Position Summary
Pingry is seeking a skilled, reliable team member to join our Facilities team at the Pottersville Campus. This role offers the opportunity to directly support the daily experiences of students, faculty, and visitors by helping ensure the campus is safe, functional, and well-maintained. As a Facilities Technician, you’ll join a team that values craftsmanship, collaboration, and a proactive mindset.
Experience with hand tools, general maintenance, or landscaping is preferred, but we’re willing to train the right candidate. If you take pride in your work, follow through without needing to be micromanaged, and want to grow within a mission-driven institution, we want to meet you.
The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., but flexibility is essential. Occasional overtime or evening/weekend availability may be required for weather events, athletics, or special campus programming. This is a full-time, 12-month, hourly position.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and support a sprawling 80-acre campus with educational, athletic, and residential buildings.
- Complete general maintenance tasks and repairs across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and more, either independently or as part of a team.
- Support seasonal campus needs, including:
- Snow removal during winter weather events.
- Grounds and landscaping work, such as mowing, trimming, and planting.
- Athletics fieldwork, and tennis court maintenance.
- Prepare spaces for school events, including room setup, staging, and logistical support.
- Respond to work orders and troubleshoot facilities issues as they arise.
- Collaborate with your supervisor and team to identify and address campus needs proactively.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to walk, stand, or crouch for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to follow directions, work independently, and collaborate with a team.
- Positive attitude, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
Preferred but not required:
- Prior experience in general maintenance, groundskeeping, or facilities work.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Experience with basic repairs in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or painting.
- Comfort supporting outdoor campus environments, athletics fields, and seasonal tasks.
- Ability to work in a school or community setting with professionalism.

The hourly rate range for this position is $18 to $30 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on experience and education.
