Position Function Summary
The Marketing and Development Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing fundraising events and marketing initiatives for La Familia Medical Center dba La Familia Health (LFMC) in support of and alignment with LFMC strategic and business plans and priorities. A love for people, events and outreach is especially important to this role. The Marketing and Development Coordinator will work with the Chief Development Officer and the Executive Team on various fundraising and marketing tasks throughout the year. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills, experience in multi-platform marketing and have a passion for LFMC’s mission.
Essential Responsibilities
Special Event Coordination:
- Responsible for coordinating and executing all elements of LFMC events, including timeline, logistics, sponsorships, auction, implementation, and follow-up.
- Lead all pre-event and day-of logistics for special events, including signature events, cultivation and exposure opportunities, and community/third party events.
- Manage corporate sponsorships and donor relations to raise significant funds for the organization.
- Cultivate and steward motivated participants to raise funds and remain connected to the agency afterwards.
- Work with volunteers, vendors and consultants as needed. Serve as the staff liaison for event committees and provide committee meeting notes and follow up.
- Coordinate with CDO on event budget planning and tracking as compared to actual with CFO.
- Oversee and work closely with CFO to track finances for events including sponsorship generation and collection.
- Report event progress to CDO and Executive Team on a timely and regular basis.
- Manage event follow-up activities for committee, sponsors, vendors, and staff.
Donor Stewardship:
- Oversee accurate gift processing standards, including timely gift entry and acknowledgement and integrity of data.
- Effectively utilize the donor tracking database through accurate entry, advanced reports and integrated communications options.
- Ensure all donors are acknowledged in a timely manner.
Marketing Duties:
- Work with the CDO and Executive Team to establish key messaging and communications strategies designed to strengthen and build LFMC brand awareness. Manage social media channels and website; actively manage LFMC's online reputation.
- Write, edit and proofread content for e-newsletters, social media, websites, emails, digital signage, blogs and other communication vehicles as assigned.
- Manage the e-newsletter and donor database; tracking new contacts and unsubscribed contacts; working bounce list.
- Manage the development and production of communication documents as assigned,
- Act as liaison to various LFMC departments to provide communication and marketing support and to identify/create opportunities to promote a favorable perception of the organization to internal and external audiences while maintaining the LFMC brand.
- Assist with other communication and marketing initiatives as needed.
- Represent the organization at off-site speaking engagements; provide tours of the organization to visiting groups.
- Ensure strategic information and direction incorporated into communication and marketing initiatives is current and authorized for intended use.
- Continually track, measure, evaluate and report achievement of marketing goals with a focus on recommending and incorporating improvements as appropriate.
- Cultivates and manages healthy relationships with external constituents and key sectors including individual donors, foundations, businesses and corporations, the media, elected officials, government entities, associations, partners, and other community groups as appropriate to expand La Familia’s visibility in the community.
- Perform other related duties as assigned; handle additional projects as assigned.
Requirements
Education, Experience and Skills/Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Strategic Communications, Journalism, Social Justice, or Social Science is required. Combination of education and equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum three (3) plus years of experience in non-profit fundraising, special events, marketing. A combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge and experience may be considered.
- CPR Certification required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking; AP Style writing experience, required.
- Ability to write at an above average level of competence, including action plans and internal reports.
- Excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite. Graphic Design experience required (Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent);
- Demonstrated understanding of and skill in navigating social media (Facebook, Twitter).
- Proficiency in managing a website platform for simple website updates.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain awareness of context and the bigger picture.
- Excellent time management skills; ability to work and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment to meet established goals and deadlines.
- Experience in healthcare a plus.
