Machine Operator III/Skid Steer Operator – Snow Removal

Transportation Operations

(Winter – 2025/2026 seasonal-term only, 0–40 hours per week)

The City of Lethbridge, Transportation Operations Department is accepting applications for 0 – 40 hours, 2025/2026 term positions of Machine Operator III/Skid Steer Operator for pathway, bike lane and crosswalk snow and ice control.

Wage: $29.33 per hour as per the 2013-2026 CUPE agreement

Term: 0–40 hours per week, starting October 15, 2025 for approximately 6 months

*Please note: shift work, working at night and weekend work will be required

Duties:

This position involves the operation of a skid steer loader, trucks up to 3-ton and other equipment as well as manual labour required for pathway snow and ice control and other Transportation Operations related duties as required.

Qualifications:

The successful candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED), working knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and tools used in snow and ice control and winter operations. The ability to safely operate assigned equipment and be able to perform minor equipment maintenance required for continued efficient operation. The successful applicants must also possess effective written and verbal communication skills to work within a team setting. You must have the ability to perform heavy manual labour for extended periods of time under various weather conditions.

Applicants must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license, and it is preferred that applicants possess a Q endorsement licence (air brake).

Preference will be given to employees that have winter operations experience.
