About the Department

Are you someone who is ready to make a difference within their local community?  If so, the City of Flagstaff is seeking a qualified Court Judicial Specialist II to join our team! 

As the City’s newest Court Judicial Specialist II, you will actively support and uphold the City’s stated mission and values. We are looking for someone who can exercise a moderate degree of independence and initiative in managing work. This role is pivotal within the Court and provides compliance monitoring, data integrity, court calendaring, and jury services. The position demands a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, inter-departmental cooperation and communication. Position Duties

  • Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Coordinates all aspects of case filing, including data entry into the Court’s case management system for default judgements, vehicle holds, warrants, community restitution, sentencings and proper payment posting.
  • Assists in developing methods and procedures to ensure data integrity for the processing of all civil and criminal cases. 
  • Works with external customers and other city and county departments to solve court case issues in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Monitors and performs follow-up on court ordered sanctions. 
  • Assists in the development of policy and procedure manuals for court case processing. 
  • Provides reports, answers questions, and resolves problems.
  • Responsible to the Deputy Court Administrator that court events are set in accordance with state law and conform with time standards. 
  • Prepares and disseminates legal notices and performs clerical duties during court proceedings.
  • Assists with the jury management operations for the Court. 
  • Assists with the financial management operations for the Court.
  • Assists in developing methods and procedures to ensure data integrity for all court records. 
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure to meet set deadlines.
  • Coordinates case destruction in compliance with records retention policies set forth by the Arizona Supreme Court.
  • Performs special projects and related duties as assigned.
  • Assists other Court personnel as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Two years of computer experience including Microsoft Office product.  
  • Two years of progressively responsible clerical work including customer service skills. 
  • Or any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the above Minimum Requirements. 

 

 

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

  • Experience with the judicial system.
  • Court case processing experience.
  • Experience in a high-profile public contact position. 
  • Associates degree or higher in Criminal Justice or a related field.

 

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess, or obtain upon employment, a valid Arizona driver license.  
  • Regular attendance during normal working hours and after hours as needed is an essential function of this job to ensure proper processing of necessary paperwork and continuity in the entire court process.
