
Job Title: Part time Academic Tutor
Reports to: Principal
Receives Guidance From: Teachers, Principal, Counselor
Job Purpose: Assist lower performing students to reach grade level academic abilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Meet and instruct assigned students at times designated by counselor and administration
- Guide small groups of students in independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work to reinforce material initially introduced by the supervising teacher
- Keep desks, books, papers, materials, and supplies in order and use educational media
- Provide assistance to and escort students as necessary
- Help maintain individual records for each child
- Collect and display suitable material for educational displays
- Marintain and accept responsibility for any district owned fixed asset items assigned to employee and ensure appropriate use by following district policies for acceptable use
- Undergo periodic evaluations according to state and board policy procedures
- Maintain confidentiality
- Regular, dependable, punctual, in person attendance is an essential function of this position
- Read, understand, and abide by Employee Conduct Policy, GAB, all other district, state, and federal policies, and procedures and protocols as established by LCSD and the Mississippi Educator Code of Ethics
- Perform such other and not specifically enumerated duties as may be requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, administrator, director, or established by district policy
Qualifications: Teaching experience/certification preferred; or 48 hours college credit or Workkeys test
Education level: Associates degree or higher from an accredited college. Minimum of 48 hours of college credit from an accredited college or pass a Work Keys test as determined by the Mississippi Department of Education.
