Position: Pre-Make Ready

Department: PMR

Wage: $ 21.10 

Job Status: Full Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: 3rd Shift (Monday – Friday 7pm - 7am.)

Reporting directly to the Department Supervisor as a Press Make Ready technician, you will be responsible for cleaning and setting up parts for presses in a quick and safe manner.

Essential Functions

· Collaborating closely with other departments and teams

· Preparing printing press parts by cleaning, wiping, and washing parts

· Pulling, sorting, and placing materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to organizational standards

· Opening bales, crates, and other containers

· Having the ability to think on your feet and troubleshoot problems and situations.

· Making incremental process adjustments, monitoring and reporting quality of manufactured product.

· Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area.

· Performing all duties as designated by supervisor/manager.

· Performing all duties in support of Sonoco’s quality and safety policies.

· Helping other departments as needed

· Wearing proper PPE

Qualifications

· We expect you to be Sonoco mission driven.

· Previous experience in packing/warehousing is extremely helpful.

· You must have a “get it done” attitude and an urgency to resolve problems/tasks.

· To succeed in this role, you will need excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Working independently and managing multiple tasks simultaneously is needed.

· You need to have working knowledge of our products and their quality requirements.

· Being reliable, having good initiative, being committed, and being quality focused is a must.

· You will need to be able to lift to 50 lbs. as needed.

· Having the ability to effectively work with a team in a fast-paced environment is crucial to success.

· You will need to have the ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions.

· You will need to be able to perform repetitious duties, including stairs and standing for long periods of time.

· You will need to have the ability to work quickly while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship.

Required Education

Work Environment

Work is performed indoors in a manufacturing setting with regular exposure to cold, heat, noise and moving machines/equipment.

MUST BE WILLING TO WORK OVERTIME AND WEEKEND SHIFTS AS NEEDED.

SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF CERTIFICATION TEST IS REQUIRED WITHIN 90 DAYS OF HIRE.
