PURPOSE STATEMENT
This position is responsible for account resolution of assigned accounts once they have final billed from the time they become self-pay until resolved.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Use AIDET when greeting patients/customers either on the phone or in person.
- Assist patients/customers with the concerns and questions on all bills from Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) and WMMC clinics, as assigned.
- Trend claim denials, advises supervisor of trends in order to improve processes with Patient Accounts department.
- Continuously reviews work processes in functional areas of responsibility to improve operational performance.
- Work a minimum of 80 reminders per day, with no reminders more than 1 week old.
- Maintain a credit balance report within 14 days of payment posting or have appropriate follow up notes.
- All messages left before 3:30PM Monday through Friday must be returned with 2 hours.
- Handle inquiries from patients/customers as needed after identification has been verified.
- Assist co-workers as needed/requested.
- Maintain a positive rapport with all customers.
- Appropriately handles telephone and email communications.
- Support the Medical Center’s Mission/Vision/Philosophy positively.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other essential duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous medical billing/collecting experience required.
- Good understanding of Fair Lending guidelines and collection policies.
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day.
- Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
- Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
- Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
- Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
- Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to life and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
- Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
