Overview
St. Margaret’s House is a day center that welcomes women and children who live in economic poverty. St. Margaret’s House improves the lives of women and children by providing individual attention to their immediate needs, breaking the bonds of isolation, and helping them to take their next best step. We believe that each woman is talented and gifted and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.


This position supports the work of St. Margaret’s House by coordinating volunteers from Saint Mary’s College and participating in the day-to-day operations at St. Margaret’s House.


Specific Responsibilities
Serve as a Beyond the Belle Site Leader for St. Margaret’s House 
Manage a weekly team of fellow students at St. Margaret’s House
Coordinate logistical details for your team and St. Margaret’s House
Serve as the Saint Mary’s-approved driver each week 
Facilitate meaningful reflection during Orientation, Closing Reflection, and once a week with your team
Attend weekly Community Engagement Leader Meetings
Support day-to-day operations at St. Margaret’s House
Collaborate with the Kitchen Manager, volunteer cooks, and guests, especially regarding pre-lunch setup and post-lunch clean up
Collaborate with Guest Services colleagues to maintain good order on the main floor
Support the supervision of children as needed, especially during programming
Support the Coordinator of In-Kind Donations by receiving and organizing donations
Training
Attend Community Engagement Leader Training the first weekend of classes
Attend weekly Community Engagement Leader meeting
Orientation with Site Supervisor


Qualifications
Driver’s license and comfortable driving groups
Comfortable with leading group conversations
Committed to mutuality, commitment, reflection, and justice in interactions 
Passion for supporting your community and learning from Community Partners
Experience working with diverse populations in a spirit of cultural humility
Excited to work with and coordinate students from diverse backgrounds
Demonstrates strong work ethic and willingness to help colleagues as needed
Enjoys maintaining a clean, orderly environment for the benefit of others
Ability to lift 40 lbs. and be on your feet for long periods of time
Ability to stay flexible, organized, and responsive in a fast-paced environment
High level of emotional intelligence and communication skills
Commitment to learning and practicing trauma-informed care
Current student of Saint Mary’s College eligible for Federal Work Study/Community Service
Expectations

Communicate proficiently, promptly, and professionally via phone, text, email, writing, or in presentations
Participate fully in Community Engagement Leader Training, Beyond the Belle Orientation, Mid-Semester Reflection, and Closing Reflection
Model respect and responsibility in all interactions with your Site Supervisor and Community Partner
Collaborates in the mission of St. Margaret’s House and promotes and adheres to the values as articulated in the SMH value statement
Fosters relationships with guests to help them feel safe in accordance with the SMH mission statement
Seeks to resolve conflict using a trauma-informed perspective
Participates in the general cleaning, maintenance, and upkeep of St. Margaret’s House

Benefits
Hourly rate of $12.00/hour

Conditions of Employment
All student employees (FWS or non FWS) are only allowed to work 20 hours a week between all on-campus positions.
Students who hold more than one on-campus position are required to inform their supervisor in order to prevent exceeding the maximum hours allowed to work.
All on-campus positions will be terminated in the spring semester on the last day of exams.
