Job Summary:

We are looking for a Head of Machine Learning to lead and grow our team of Data Scientists and Data Engineers. In this strategic role, you’ll shape the ML roadmap, drive operational excellence, and ensure our AI initiatives deliver real business value.

In this role, you’ll lead the development of this generative model as well as all other ML applications. You’ll work closely with our senior management and cross-functionally with business and technical teams to extend Buynomics’ market leadership in modeling shopper behavior. 

Responsibilities:

• Shape and execute the vision and strategy for ML within the company, ensuring strong alignment with business goals
• Lead, mentor, and expand a high-performing team of Data Engineers and Data Scientists, fostering collaboration between the sub-teams
• Strengthen the connection between Machine Learning initiatives and business needs, ensuring tangible value
• Enhance processes to improve efficiency, scalability, and reproducibility of data workflows and ML models
• Improve communication and alignment with Product, Business, and Engineering stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution
• Stay up to date with industry trends, evaluating and implementing emerging ML technologies that drive competitive advantage

Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience in Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Proven experience managing ML or data teams, ideally including both Data Science and Data Engineering functions
• Strong background in ML model development, MLOps, and data infrastructure, with proficiency in Python, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and modern ML frameworks
• Ability to conceptualize and formalize business needs in mathematical language
• MSc or PhD in Quantitative Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Physics, or a related field
• Ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and business objectives, driving value through ML initiatives
• Experience in improving team efficiency through process optimization and cross-functional collaboration
• Strong ability to interact with executive stakeholders, product managers, engineers, and business teams

Nice to have:

• Experience working in a product-driven environment where ML is embedded in B2B SaaS applications
• Familiarity with Agile methods for data science and engineering teams
• Experience working with FMCG, Retail, or Telco industries
• Experience in high-paced environments with outcome-oriented delivery, e.g. start-up, scale-up, or consulting
