Job Description

  • Coordinate services including individual finances, activities, behavioral supports, healthcare, nutrition, family involvement, education/vocational services, and household management
  • Assist supervisors with maintaining consistency in programming, staff communication, and overall quality of care
  • Create and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and support
  • Support implementation of behavior support plans, treatment plans, functional assessments, and person-centered plans
  • Provide direct support and hands-on care during assigned shifts, including personal cares and daily living support
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques, crisis intervention, and positive behavior support strategies when assisting individuals with complex behavioral or mental health needs
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with individuals served, families, and interdisciplinary support teams
  • Assist with household tasks, meal preparation, medication support, appointments, community activities, and general upkeep of the home
  • Maintain accurate electronic documentation and communicate important updates, concerns, and progress to supervisors and team members

Qualifications

Required (Must-Have): 

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance 
  • Basic computer skills 
  • Minimum of two years’ experience delivering behavioral health services 
  • Minimum of one year of lead experience in residential services or a two-year degree in a related field 
  • Ability to support individuals with significant mental health symptoms, including physical or verbal aggression, property destruction, chemical dependence, brain injury, and cognitive impairments 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, and remain active for extended periods 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs 

Skills & Abilities: 

  • Demonstrated experience using de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution, and positive behavioral supports 
  • Strong observation, counseling and assessment skills
  • Strong teamwork skills and openness to feedback 
  • Ability to work one-on-one and in group settings 
  • Strong time management and self-management skills
