The Vessel Manager Bulk is responsible for the technical and operational management of a designated fleet of bulk carrier vessels, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations aligned with company standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves close collaboration with vessel crews, owners, and internal departments to maintain vessel performance, safety, and budget adherence.

  • Oversee the technical management of assigned bulk carriers, ensuring compliance with class, flag, and statutory regulations.
  • Coordinate planned maintenance, repairs, and surveys, including dry-dockings and special inspections.
  • Monitor vessel performance, fuel consumption, and condition, implementing measures to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Manage vessel budgets, control costs, and report financial performance to owners and management.
  • Lead investigations into technical incidents, accidents, and non-conformities; implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support crew management activities in coordination with crewing departments to ensure well-trained and competent personnel onboard.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations, best practices, and technological advancements relevant to bulk carrier operations.
  • Facilitate communication between vessel masters, chiefs, owners, and shore-based teams.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and vetting processes to uphold safety and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Proven experience as a Vessel Manager or Technical Superintendent in bulk carrier operations.
  • In-depth understanding of international maritime regulations including SOLAS, MARPOL, and ISM Code.
  • Strong knowledge of bulk cargo operations, vessel maintenance, and technical project management.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple vessels effectively.
  • Willingness to travel as required to perform vessel inspections and attend meetings.
