Duty Location: Building 5250, Redstone Arsenal, AL
Position Type: Full Time
Supports the Integrated Fires Mission Command (IFMC) Project Office which develops and fields Command and Control capabilities as a part of the Army’s enterprise Army Air and Missile Defense weapon system. This includes capability development in the IFMC organic portfolio and the integration of new sensors and effectors, which also includes Foreign Military Sales customers. The External Interface Services and Network Lead Supports the interface development for IBCS (Core capability and FMS related) and External Components as applicable.
The External Interface Services and Network Lead
· From a Foreign Military Sale (FMS) customer and potential customer perspective:
o Assist in the design and integration of various adapted components Sensors/Weapons, including evaluation of new network architectures and transports.
o Preparation of material and travel to support foreign customer design reviews, demonstrations, and tests.
o Ability to serve as a SME for evaluation and troubleshooting of foreign customer communications, network, SW-to-Network Integration, and timing capabilities.
o Track and ensure that all integration milestones are clearly defined, delivered on time, and aligned with overall project objectives.
· Create standardization across all future External Interface Services (EIS) and External Interface Connections (EIC) for componentization effort
· Develop and design detailed Interconnect Diagrams (ICD) for new External Interface Services (EIS) and External Interface Connections (EIC)
· Technical briefings, demonstrations, and advisement to leadership on relevant IBCs Core capability and FMS capabilities.
· Leadership Briefings and Milestone Tracking: Regularly brief Solution Level leadership on the status of each capability/feature, highlighting key milestones, risks, and timelines for the required software/hardware interfaces, ensuring the readiness of all components for the WISLA Phase II project.
· Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., engineering) to ensure smooth component integration into IBCS and that supplier interfaces align with FMS requirements.
· Supports investigations into current communications problems, scopes effort and guides the communications development team(s) during investigations, demonstrations, and tests.
· Supports evaluations of new technology to gain efficiency and new capability within IFMC C2 constructs, both US and FMS baselines.
· Supports investigation of urgent system anomalies with software/middleware/network/communication interactions
· Coordinates with architects and developers in the Software/Middleware/OS Environment/Compute/Network/Cyber domains within the IBCS technical stack.
· Develops and provides advanced technical training when required on IBCS, network interfaces and configuration, and WAN tuning in a tactical environment
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
Experience:
o 18 years of relevant network technology experience, both wired and RF/radio based
o At least 5 years of IBCS specific technical experience
Skills:
o Employment of MANET/Mesh radio tactical networks with sophisticated resiliency settings
o Proficient in Red Hat Enterprise Linux and VM environments
o Proficient in implementation and troubleshooting of network timing protocols (e.g. NTP, PTP)
o Excellent communication and stakeholder management, ability to explain highly technical issues in layperson terms
Qualifications:
o Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance and the ability to maintain a clearance
o CompTIA Security +
o Agile Software Development experience using Atlassian Tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.) [Desired]
