Role Summary

The Associate Designer plays a key role in the design and technical development of luxury residential projects by supporting design execution, documentation and visual communication across multiple projects. This role ensures that design ideas move efficiently from concept through presentation and into implementation. The Associate Designer works closely with the Senior Designers, Senior Project Manager and COO to support project development, produce clear design documentation and help maintain forward momentum across the studio’s work. A successful Associate Designer thinks proactively, anticipates problems before they arise and gracefully resolves issues behind the scenes.

Core Responsibilities

Design Development and Documentation

·       Produce furnishing plans, elevations, millwork drawings, and layouts in AutoCAD

·       Develop design studies and visual concepts through drawings, renderings or other available tools

·       Assist in translating design direction into clear, buildable documentation

·       Maintain organized drawing sets and ensure design documentation remains current

·       Assist project leadership in tracking project milestones, decisions and action items

·       Maintain organized project files across digital and physical systems

·       Support the development and organization of the studio materials library both in filling it with new and updated materials and also keeping it tidy and ready for professional use.

Design Research and Sourcing

·       Assist the design team in sourcing furnishings, fixtures, lighting, materials, and finishes

·       Gather product pricing, lead times and availability information

·       Coordinate sample requests and maintain organized materials for presentations

·       Assist with development of custom furniture concepts and specifications

Presentation Development

·       Create tidy digital and compelling physical design presentations for client meetings

·       Prepare materials boards, finish palettes and visual documentation

·       Ensure presentation materials clearly communicate design intent and project direction

·       Support refinement of presentations based on leadership feedback

Measures of Success

·       Design leadership receives clear, organized drawings and presentation materials

·       Project teams have accurate and well-prepared design information for decision-making

·       Design concepts move efficiently from idea to documentation

·       Studio leadership receives prepared information rather than open-ended questions

·       Projects maintain forward momentum through proactive design support

Requirements

·       2-4+ years experience in high-end residential design or architecture-focused studios

·       Strong attention to detail, aesthetics and a passion for process and organization

·       Proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, PowerPoint and other basic office software and tools

·       Clear, polished communication and presentation skills

·       Ability to manage expectations, troubleshoot and anticipate problems before they arise

·       Ability to travel to and from job sites, lift and carry light to medium size loads (up to 20 lbs) on occasion
