Job Description

About the Role

You'll be designing with more human behavior data than almost anywhere else on the planet.

At Nielsen, we measure how billions of people watch, listen, and buy across the globe. As a Senior Product Designer, you'll transform this massive, complex dataset into products that media professionals, advertisers, and agencies use to make critical business decisions.

The design challenges: How do we help media planners compare TV and streaming audiences across multiple markets in one view? How do we surface the right insight when they're navigating millions of data points? How do we make cross-media measurement feel intuitive when the underlying logic is complex?

If you love simplifying complexity and understanding user behavior at scale, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

  • 🧠 Translate complexity into clarity: Make multi-dimensional data, cross-platform measurement, and sophisticated analytics feel simple. Design the mental models that make it click.
  • 📊 Design for data-driven decision makers: Create dashboards, planning tools, and analytics platforms that help media planners and researchers find signals in the noise.
  • 🔍 Research with actual behavioral data: Access real usage analytics and measurement data from our products. See exactly how users navigate, where they get stuck, and what drives decisions.
  • 🎨 Own end-to-end design: From early research to polished UI to post-launch iteration. Your designs directly impact how thousands of professionals work daily.
  • 🧩 Build systems that scale: Contribute to design systems used across Nielsen's global product suite. Think component reusability and patterns that work in 10 different contexts.

Qualifications

  • You're an analytical designer: You validate with data. You're as comfortable in a spreadsheet as you are in Figma. You love digging into analytics and letting insights guide your design decisions.
  • You've designed for complexity: Your portfolio shows dashboards, enterprise tools, or analytics platforms where information density is a feature, not a bug.
  • You bridge user needs, design craft, and data: You bring experience in user research and can hold your own with data scientists and engineers. You understand sampling, statistical significance, and data pipelines well enough to design interfaces that respect technical constraints while staying grounded in user insights.
  • Your craft is exceptional: Sharp eye for typography, color, layout, and interaction design. Your design system contributions are thoughtful and well-documented.
  • 5+ years of experience: While experience with data-heavy products, analytics platforms, or enterprise tools is beneficial, we welcome designers who are passionate about breaking into this space and have strong foundational skills. Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, or equivalent professional experience (formal education not mandatory).
  • Strong portfolio: Show us how you approached complex problems, what data informed your decisions, and the measurable impact of your work.
  • Proficiency in Design tools: Familiar with tools such as Figma, Protopie, etc. Know how to design interactions, use component libraries and bring concepts to life through prototyping.

Why This Matters: Your designs influence billions of dollars in media investment and shape what content gets made, distributed, and watched globally. You're designing tools that help advertisers understand if their $50M campaign reached their target audience, help media companies prove platform value, and help content creators make better programming decisions.

Ready?

If you're excited about making billions of data points feel intuitive, designing for sophisticated users, and working on problems where "simple" is actually really hard, let's talk.

Bring your portfolio. Show us how you make data useful.
