The Senior Accountant at McLane Global must have solid knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The role requires at least four years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. This position is very hands-on working within a growing small team of accountants and clerks.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Active hands-on participation in Month-end closing procedures, including preparing journal entries, prepayments and accruals.
  • General ledger accounts review and reconciliations.
  • Assist in oversight of Vendor invoices and payment processing.
  • Assist in oversight of Customer receivables and cash reconciliation process.
  • Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial statements.
  • Support the Accounting Manager in communicating financial results to the business unit leaders.
  • Assist in coordinating activities of external auditors.
  • Research and respond to accounting questions to assist management with information pertinent to decision-making processes.
  • Assist in the budget process.
  • Actively access current accounting operations and systems utilization, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes.
  • Work closely with the Accounting Manager to evaluate and improve accounting and internal controls.
  • Other duties assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3-4+ years of prior accounting experience, including industry experience working within a team environment.
  • Masters or Certified Public Accountant is a plus but not required.
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Eye for detail. Accuracy is imperative.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a focus on control process assessment.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to be an effective team member and display initiative.
  • Driven to learn and grow professionally.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • A positive, energetic attitude with a servant leader mentality.
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multitask and produce quality work with accurate detail.
