Position Summary

The Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SNHS) is the chief academic and administrative officer for the school responsible for providing visionary, strategic, and operational leadership across all nursing (BSN through DNP, and post-graduate APRN) programs and the health science division with undergraduate concentrations in Health & Wellness, Health Systems Management, Physical Education, Kinesiology, and a master’s in athletic training within the school. The nursing programs are CCNE-accredited. The Master of Athletic Training program is CAATE-accredited. The Dean’s role includes supervising 35 full-time faculty members, over 50 adjunct faculty members, four program directors, and seven staff members. In addition, the school boasts a full-staff four-suite simulation center with a boardcertified simulation nurse educator and a separate nursing resource learning center.

Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive oversight of academic, operational, and administrative functions to ensure efficiency, excellence, and alignment with institutional strategic priorities
  • Manage the SNHS operational budget in alignment with NPU’s strategic vision to support program quality, innovation, growth, and accreditation compliance
  • Represent the SNHS with external stakeholders, including accrediting bodies, clinical and community partners, and others as appropriate
  • Chief nursing administrator for the three nursing degree and APRN certificate programs
  • Ensures the alignment of all programs with the institution’s mission, vision, and goals • Leads strategic planning for the School of Nursing and Health Sciences
  • Leads curricular and program review, and new program development
  • Oversees student success initiatives
  • Secures resources, projects, and manages the budget; pursues external funding through grants, partnerships, and philanthropic support.
  • Oversees the execution and assessment of Nursing Programs Systematic Evaluation Plan, the SNHS Annual Report, and the degree programs' annual assessments
  • Maintains authority over accreditation compliance
  • Represents the school with the IDFPR (Board of Nursing)
  • Collaborates effectively with other Deans and campus leaders to support shared governance and institutional strategic priorities

Salary Range: $145,000-155,000

Requirements

  • Possess a clear understanding and personal commitment to North Park University’s mission of Christian higher education.
  • Unencumbered IL RN license or eligible for (most hold before 1st day of employment)
  • Earned a doctorate in nursing or a related health science field. If the doctorate is not in nursing, applicant must hold an MSN
  • At least 3 years of experience as a nursing administrator with a record of full-time academic leadership
  • Experience with the CCNE-accreditation process and other regulatory bodies
  • Experience teaching or leading undergraduate and graduate-level nursing programs
  • Experience with strategic program planning, curricular development, and new program development
  • Experience in budget management
  • Strong skills in personnel management, strategic planning, and financial stewardship
  • Demonstrates superior attention to detail and excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
