Overview

The Performance & Operations Lead for Windows Consumer is accountable for driving end‑to‑end business performance through rigorous operating discipline, trusted data, and clear executive insight. This role owns the Windows Consumer performance model, cascades targets across the organization, operational system ensuring consistent rhythm of business, and translates performance signals into compelling, action‑oriented executive narratives that enable confident, timely decision‑making.

Operating as an individual contributor, this role sits at the center of strategy, finance, and execution—ensuring the organization operates from a shared, trusted view of performance and its key drivers while continuously improving outcomes through insight‑led action.

Responsibilities

Performance Data Model, Insights & Governance

  • Define and own the Windows Consumer performance framework, including standard metrics, definitions, and dashboards.

  • Convert complex data into clear, actionable insights that illuminate performance drivers, risks, and opportunities.

  • Govern metric integrity and consistency across regions, ensuring the organization operates from a shared, trusted view of performance.

  • Drive broad adoption of standard dashboards, embedding data‑driven decision‑making into day‑to‑day operations.

Operations & Rhythm of Business

  • Establish and maintain operating discipline across Windows Consumer by embedding standard performance dashboards into all core business forums.

  • Ensure consistent cadence, accountability, and clarity of ownership across reviews.

  • Enable rapid identification of risks and opportunities to accelerate course correction and execution excellence.

Chief Business Storytelling

  • Translate performance signals into concise, insight‑led executive narratives that connect results to underlying drivers and required actions.

  • Partner with leaders to shape clear, decision‑ready stories for SLT and regional leadership.

  • Elevate business discussions from reporting to insight‑driven decision‑making, maximizing leadership effectiveness and focus.

Targets & Investment Governance

  • Cascade targets across regions and teams, ensuring alignment to Windows Consumer objectives.

  • Govern investments end‑to‑end by running performance and investment reviews, surfacing help‑needed signals, and highlighting tradeoffs.

  • Partner closely with Finance to assess ROI (return on investment) and reallocate resources to optimize business impact.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • 6+ years category management, product management, marketing strategy, business planning, product planning, or related work experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred of qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in business performance management, operations, strategy, finance, or a related role within a complex, global organization.

  • Experience defining performance frameworks, govern metrics, and drive adoption of data and dashboards at scale.

  • Deep experience operating across cross‑functional teams and influencing without authority.

  • Experienced with analytical, structured work with a bias for action and operational rigor.

Category Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.
