Overview
Datacenter Physical Security (DCPS) is an organization within the Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) team. We are looking for a Datacenter Security Business Operations Director to be responsible for delivering physical security strategy, operations, and risk management across Microsoft’s global datacenter footprint. Datacenter Physical Security is an integrated part of the CO+I organization and serves as the accountable function for end-to-end physical security outcomes supporting Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure delivery and operations.
This role reports directly to the Senior Director of Datacenter Global Security Programs and is responsible for enabling connected, scalable, and repeatable business operations across the DCPS portfolio. The Datacenter Security Business Operations Director will work collaboratively across CO+I and the broader Microsoft enterprise, including finance, procurement, supply chain, legal, and security operations, to align strategy, funding, contracting, and execution. The role partners closely with program managers across CO+I to mature business processes, drive operational rigor, and support efficient growth at scale.
The position also plays a critical role in managing and optimizing large security vendor relationships and contracts, ensuring alignment with CO+I objectives, financial discipline, risk management, and performance outcomes, while maintaining a strong customer-centric mindset focused on enabling secure, reliable cloud operations.

Responsibilities

Own and mature the global Datacenter Physical Security business operations function, establishing scalable operating models, governance, and accountability across regions and programs

Lead end-to-end security OPEX financial management including annual planning, quarterly forecasting, variance analysis, and executive-level financial reporting

Drive processing, tracking, and reconciliation of large volumes of security procurement requests, supplemental purchase orders, and vendor spend to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and financial integrity

Partner with finance, procurement, and staffing strategy teams to align funding models, vendor budgets, and resourcing plans with approved security priorities

Oversee global supplier financial governance, including invoice validation, spend controls, contract alignment, and issue resolution across large, complex vendor accounts

Establish and maintain supplier performance scorecards, risk indicators, and service metrics to support operational continuity, cost optimization, and leadership decision making

Lead scalable workforce planning for vendor-based resources, variable labor, and programmatic capacity needs, ensuring efficient allocation and utilization

Support fixed headcount planning and resource optimization in partnership with security leadership and central workforce planning teams

Own the Datacenter Physical Security rhythm of business, including planning cycles, budget reviews, operational reviews, OKRs, KPIs, and executive readouts

Build and sustain business analytics, dashboards, and reporting systems that replace manual processes and provide consistent, actionable insights

Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance across financial, procurement, supplier, and performance reporting

Leverage tools such as SharePoint, Power Automate, and Power Apps to enable automation, workflow efficiency, and self-service reporting within a lean team model

Manage and develop a specialized business operations team, including finance, procurement, analytics, budget, and supplier assurance managers, through coaching, performance management, and capability development

Act as a trusted operational partner to Datacenter Physical Security leadership by translating strategy into executable plans, measurable outcomes, and sustained operational discipline
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or related field AND 8+ years experience in program management, process management, or process improvement

OR equivalent experience.

6+ years management (e.g., people, project, process, vendor, change) experience.
Background Check Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements.
Additional or preferred qualifications

Master's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or related field AND 12+ years experience program management, process management, or process improvement

OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or related field AND 15+ years experience in program management , process management, or process improvement

OR equivalent experience.

8+ years people management experience.

Experience managing procurement orders, budget cycles, and resourcing strategies in a complex organization

Experience leading large, cross-functional programs across multiple teams and stakeholders

Experience supporting global business operations and large vendor ecosystems

Experience driving operational rigor, financial discipline, and scalable business processes

Business Program Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $303,600 per year.
