Rye Country Day School is seeking an Assistant Band Director and Private Lesson Coordinator beginning August 2026.
The Assistant Band Director is a cross-divisional faculty role in the Middle and Upper School. Given that this role also has a Middle School advising component, this role reports to the Middle School Principal.

Specific responsibilities of the position include:
- Help classroom management and routines and provide classroom support by leading sectionals or conducting Middle and Upper School ensembles while the Teacher provides more individualized instruction
- Provide additional support in the preparation and performance of the concerts
- Support students across a variety of instruments
- Create and manage scheduling for 100+ students in lessons with private teachers in an efficient and organized manner
- Coordinate timesheets for billing and payroll and overall smooth operation of the private lesson program
- Proficiency in office technology
- Serve as a Middle School advisor
- Supervise after-school lessons on an as-needed basis
- Participate in faculty and departmental meetings, field trips, special activities, and rotational duties as needed
Desired qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or higher preferred in a relevant field of study
- 3-5 years of experience working with young students as a teacher or another leadership program
- Flexibility, creativity, and excellent organizational skills
- Excellent oral and written skills
- A well-developed sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community members; a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Genuine excitement for and ability to work with students, employees, and families
- Enthusiasm for the school’s various initiatives
