Requirements:

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, coordinating, scheduling, and supporting hospice volunteers who provide patient-related and organizational support services. Under the direction of the Manager of Volunteer Services, this role facilitates volunteer participation across all hospice settings to support patient care, families, and operational needs in accordance with hospice philosophy, Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation, and Calvary Hospital policies. Volunteers may provide direct patient care within their defined roles; the Volunteer Coordinator does not provide clinical care.

Status: Full Time

Location: Bronx Campus

Salary: $60,457.03 annually

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience involving volunteer coordination, recruitment, training, or supervision; hospice or healthcare experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of hospice philosophy and end-of-life care.
  • Strong organizational, scheduling, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems, volunteer databases, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Demonstrates professionalism consistent with the mission, values, and spirit of caring at Calvary Hospital.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred not required; degree in Human Services, Social Work, Healthcare Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred.

COVID-19 vaccination is strongly encouraged for all new hires prior to beginning employment at Calvary Hospital.
