Role Impact

You’ll have the freedom to learn, experiment, and shape how we build, while working with teammates who care deeply about both code quality and community impact.
Most of your work will be with AWS (e.g. CloudFront, Lambda, EC2, ECS, RDS), Terraform, New Relic, GitHub, Confluence, Jira, Dependabot.
Key Accountabilities
You’ll own and be measured on:
Delivering high-quality, maintainable code
- Own the quality, performance, and maintainability of your code contributions
- Deliver features, improvements, and bug fixes aligned with project goals
- Success indicator: Consistent delivery that meets acceptance criteria, low defect rate, strong code reviews
Collaborating effectively in cross-functional teams
- Translate client and user requirements into clear, actionable technical work
- Work closely with teammates and clients to plan, estimate, and refine solutions
- Communicate proactively to clarify goals and resolve challenges early
- Success indicator: Positive team and client feedback
Driving continuous improvement
- Contribute to engineering best practices, documentation, and process optimization
- Identify and implement improvements in code quality, performance, and workflow
- Success indicator: Improvements in team efficiency, code health, or developer experience
Supporting learning and mentorship
- Share expertise through pair programming, code reviews, and documentation
- Seek and offer feedback that helps everyone grow and improve
- Success indicator: Active participation in team knowledge-sharing and mentorship efforts
Requirements
Essential Competencies
Skills-Based
We assess engineering skills using a competency framework that tracks progression from foundational to advanced mastery across four areas:
Technical Skills
- Writes clean, testable, maintainable code with attention to security
- Implements solutions and debugs effectively across multiple technologies
- Strong proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g. Terraform)
- Proficiency in a programming language (e.g. TypeScript, Python)
- Experience working with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL) and understanding of data-modeling principles
Code Review & Testing
- Reviews code for correctness, approach, and business alignment
- Provides context and testing steps when submitting code for review
Delivery & Scope of Work
- Picks up tasks and drives them to completion with appropriate level of support
- Prioritizes work, handles uncertainty, and communicates progress and blockers
Communication & Teamwork
- Collaborates effectively and shares knowledge with teammates and clients
- Seeks and provides feedback, contributes respectfully to technical discussions

- Salary: $120,000-$145,000 matching your skills and experience
