Job Description

Overview:

The Pre Sort Supervisor will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the pre grade area, which include Receiving, Pre Grading, Short and Long Term Storage, Equipment, Quality Assurance and Sanitation. Will directly supervise one to five, non-supervisory employees and they will lead approximately 60 employees. Will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and any applicable laws. Responsibilities include coordination of all harvest received fruit, fruit storage inventories, fruit pre-grade and process, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; and managing a clear communication line between processing and packaging.

Here’s what you’ll do:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plan, organize, supervise and participate in daily warehouse operation and activities, including the receipt, documentation, storage, safety and distribution of equipment and supplies and inventory.
  • Train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned warehouse employees; assign workloads to warehouse workers.
  • Route, schedule, pack and prepare orders for delivery; load vehicles; schedule and oversee deliveries and pick-ups.
  • Supervise the processing of requisitions and requests to invoice for reimbursements of warehouse codes; complete requisitions for needed materials to assure adequate stock levels.
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of records and logs and prepare reports as required; maintain inventory of items in the warehouse; file records as required; supervise the assembly of inventory printouts and catalogs as required.
  • Monitor automated warehousing system; operate a computer to enter data, correct errors and control key screens as required.
  • Operate and demonstrate use of specialized warehouse equipment as necessary; assure proper and routine maintenance and servicing of warehouse vehicles and equipment.
  • Observe Safety regulations; maintain warehouse in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
  • Assist management in establishing warehouse standards and procedures; advise of budget-related needs; assist in the bid process for various supplies as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Responsible for achieving, sustaining and continuously improving safety, quality, efficiency, and cost results
  • Examines items or tasks produced to determine if they meet specifications.
  • Fruit Distribution and Grading
  • Fruit inventory and rotation
  • Ability to manage multiple schedules and coordinating multiple pieces of manufacturing/packing equipment.
  • Familiar with conveyance system and processing lines
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules
  • In conjunction with Safety and Human Resources, will maintain overall safety programs and ensures that basic labor laws are enforced.

Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

  • Will have at least 1-2 years of related experience. B.A. or B.S. required.
  • Produce/Citrus experience preferred but not required.
  • Must have good communicate skills (verbally and in writing).
  • Bilingual required (English/Spanish).
  • Must be comfortable doing analytical work with production projections/run schedules.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot equipment/process problems and propose solutions. Problem-solving skills are essential to this position.
  • Experience with Oracle program preferred but not needed

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
