Network Engineer - Consultant (Contract Opportunity)

You won't just be sitting on the sidelines; this is a hands-on delivery role where you will design, implement, and execute vital security solutions.
Key Details 📝
- Location: Columbia, SC (Must be a current resident of South Carolina).
- Work Arrangement: Onsite Monday-Friday for the first 90 days. Transitions to Hybrid (2-3 days onsite/week) thereafter.
- Contract Type: 1-year renewable contract.
- Estimated Start Date: February 10, 2026.
- Application Deadline: January 10, 2026.
- Compensation: $76.00 - $84.00 per hour.
What You Will Be Doing 🛠️
- Designing and implementing robust secure hybrid and multi-cloud network architectures involving AWS and Azure.
- Architecting VPC/VNet segmentation, routing, and connectivity (including hub-and-spoke and transit models).
- Bridging on-premise networks with cloud environments utilizing VPN, Direct Connect, or ExpressRoute.
- Defining network standards and establishing security guardrails and reference architectures.
- Implementing strict network segmentation, micro-segmentation, and zero-trust security principles.
- Managing ingress/egress controls and inspecting east-west traffic.
Requirements
What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Requirements) ✅
- Residency: Must be a current resident of South Carolina (No relocation allowed).
- Experience: 5-10+ years of experience in Information Security and Engineering.
- Cloud Expertise: 5+ years of experience designing and maintaining infrastructure specifically in AWS and Azure.
- Security Ops: Proven experience in Cloud Security design, operations, and automation.
- Documentation: Strong ability to document security tools, deployment configurations, and incident reports.
- Certification: Must hold a current AWS or Azure Certification.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Legal: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Points!) 🌟
- Advanced Certifications: AWS Certified Cloud Solutions Architect, PCNSA, or PCNSE.
- Firewall Expertise: 5+ years of experience deploying, configuring, and maintaining Cloud VM series Palo Alto Firewalls in AWS and Azure.
- Tooling Familiarity: Experience with F5 Load Balancing/Firewalls, InfoBlox, Forescout, Cisco Umbrella, and Prisma Cloud.
