Audax Private Equity deal team members are supported by professionals in several key functional areas including legal, capital markets, finance/accounting, sourcing, portfolio support, IT, and business development. Our model allows deal teams to focus their energy and resources on what matters most – building companies and building equity value for our investors.

The Analyst will play a key role in the Portfolio Valuation & Analytics team, which focuses on quarterly valuations, fundraising initiatives, portfolio company/fund level analytics, limited partner reporting, and developing reports and integrated analyses. With time, this individual will work with PE deal teams, investor relations, PE finance, capital markets, business development, and PE portfolio support to develop analyses and drive operational improvements while routinely aggregating portfolio company metrics and maintaining the data within the iLevel and Chronograph systems. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated team player with strong technical skills able to transform concepts into effective, concise, and timely analyses. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Quarterly Valuation & Portfolio Review 

  • Assist in creating and updating quarterly Valuation Committee presentation materials including details on portfolio company metrics, fund performance analyses and benchmarking analyses. 
  • Prepare valuation models for quarterly update process across multiple strategies including Audax Strategic Capital and Junior Capital Funds.
  • Update presentation materials for internal portfolio review meetings, including industry specific analyses. 

Fundraising & Investor Relations requests  

  • Update private equity marketing materials/presentations and assist in coordination of annual limited partner meetings/semi-annual advisory board sessions, including updating presentation materials, investment summaries, and compiling executive-level summary materials.
  • Assist in creation and update process of fundraising materials including quarterly track records and company metrics files, fund performance analyses, ad-hoc limited partner requests, and benchmarking reports for use in outward-facing investor updates.
  • Analyze investment performance and communicate results to investor relations for use with prospective and existing limited partners; draft semi- annual/annual and ad-hoc investment updates and portfolio company write-ups to help our investors better understand their investments.

Maintenance and build-out of private equity portfolio company databases and reporting 

  • Maintain and improve the integrity of all portfolio and individual company metrics, driving reporting and all related analyses.
  • Own additional workstreams such as quarterly fee collection, transaction expense tracking, HSR filings.
  • Track monthly and quarterly portfolio company performance. Work in conjunction with the investment team and Portfolio Valuation & Analytics team members to gain insight into company valuations and valuation decisions. Trace impact of company level performance, cash flows, and balance sheet items to portfolio company valuations.
  • Analyze trends across the portfolio to provide analytical and qualitative support for portfolio company metrics, performance/benchmarks, valuations, and fund/aggregate analyses.
  • Coordinate development and build-out of portfolio operating performance and company KPI dashboards to understand actual performance and assess the value creation drivers over the holding period of each investment (e.g., iLevel and Chronograph dashboards, portfolio company financial system analyses).
  • Assist with the implementation of Chronograph.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS or BA with a high GPA in Finance, Accounting, or a related major
  • 2-3 years professional experience in an analytical role, including experience with financial models and presentation creation
  • Good understanding of finance and accounting; experience with alternative investments a plus
  • Solid grasp of investments, LBO/M&A transactions, and private company valuations with experience working with multi-variable integrated financial statement models a plus
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage rapidly changing assignments in a team environment
  • Proven history of process engineering and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with iLevel, Chronograph, Mekko Graphics, Cambridge Benchmarking, Burgiss, PowerBI, and/or investment analytics software a plus

COMPETENCIES:

The candidate should be advanced in Excel and PowerPoint, specifically in the following areas: 

  • Complex logic formulas (i.e., combining “IF formulas” with other Excel functions)
  • Advanced combinations of lookup functions (e.g., combinations of offset, index, match, sumproduct, indirect with other excel functions)
  • Financial and performance functions (e.g., pmt, xirr, irr, nper)
  • Macros, filters, array formulas, data tables, and pivot tables
  • Strong PowerPoint presentation skills, with attention to detail and ability to summarize complex ideas to various audiences

 

The base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000. The base salary range represents the estimated low and high end for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation may vary and will be determined based on but not limited to, the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and Audax reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. An employee may also be eligible for annual discretionary incentive compensation based on performance.
