Director of Human Resources
Employment Status: Full-time, exempt
Location: US, remote
Base Salary Range: $90000-$140000 pa negotiable
About the Role
Focusrite Group is looking for a dynamic Director of Human Resources to lead HR strategy and operations across the United States and Latin America.
In this role, you’ll oversee every aspect of HR, including talent acquisition, learning and development, performance management, compliance, compensation and benefits, employee engagement, and diversity and inclusion. You’ll be a trusted partner to leadership across regional, brand, and finance teams, providing support that aligns with our vision of being a Great Place to Work.
Our team spans 18 states and three countries, with offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco, so adaptability and broad HR expertise are key.
Reporting directly to our Chief People Officer in the UK, you’ll thrive in a standalone HR environment while collaborating on global projects that shape the future of our organization and regions. This position is fully Remote, but with the option of office space in El Segundo, CA.

Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with the CPO to define and execute the HR roadmap.
- Act as a member of the regional management team, while ensuring HR strategies and objectives support the Group’s business plan.
- Create and administer HR programs such as annual reviews and professional development programs, as well as other employee engagement initiatives.
- Continuously monitor challenges and ensure our people always feel supported.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Maintain legal compliance across all people management activities.
- Keep company policies and procedures current with employment law and communicate updates to managers.
- Support organizational changes such as restructures, acquisitions, and any other changes to employee terms.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition Manager to deliver efficient recruitment processes.
- Manage onboarding for new hires, internal transfers, and exit processes for leavers.
Learning, Development & Performance
- Support managers with performance management, objective setting, and development planning.
- Identify and implement training and development programs as agreed.
HR Technology & Reporting
- Ensure effective operation of HRIS systems.
- Produce and analyze HR metrics and reports.
- Oversee accurate and timely completion of transactional HR activities.
Compensation & Benefits
- Manage pay, bonus, and benefits communications, providing advice and support as needed.
- Recommend improvements to reward structures and conduct benchmarking.
- Administer benefit enrollment and manage external relationships.
- Maintain records for PTO, overtime, and sickness.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Partner with Group HR to measure and improve employee engagement.
- Provide guidance and coaching on employee relations issues.
- Handle disciplinary and grievance matters, seeking legal advice when appropriate.
- Support effective internal communication across the organization.
Culture, Values, Diversity & Inclusion
- Foster a culture where people feel valued, and their contributions are recognized and rewarded.
- Plan and schedule cultural events throughout the year to promote engagement and inclusion.
About You:
- Preferably 5-10 years’ generalist HR experience.
- Strong knowledge of current employment law.
- Recognized HR qualification (e.g., SHRM, TMI, HRCI) is a distinct advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of HRIS systems; ADP experience is a plus.
- Experience with building and administering HR programs.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Confident in advising and guiding managers on all aspects of people management.
- Strong administrative accuracy and attention to detail.
- Diplomatic and effective communicator, both written and verbal.
- Self-starter with initiative; able to work independently or collaboratively.
- Highly motivated with vision and commitment to succeed.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to prioritize and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Team-oriented, keeping colleagues informed and engaged.
- Travel is limited to less than 10%.
