Role Purpose
The Lead Accountant transforms daily transactions into meaningful financial insight. They own core financial processes—month-end close, reconciliations review, payroll, reporting—and ensure our clients’ numbers are clean, clear, and actionable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record daily, weekly, and monthly financial transactions in accounting systems. Allocating by job and cost center requirements.
  • Reconcile bank, credit card statements, and clearing accounts monthly.
  • Own month-end close processes: journal entries, accruals, A/R and A/P agings, tech stack integration verification in preparation for financial reports. 
  • Manage AP and AR: process invoices and payments within processing software (Ramp)
  • Process and review bi-weekly hourly payroll, including employee tip, reimbursement, and commission payments.
  • Track, maintain, and submit monthly/quarterly sales tax requirements.
  • Prepare financial reports for AMCL/Controller review.
  • Support the AMCL with client communication, including email updates, joining review calls, and providing timeline and progress updates.
  • Follow accounting policies and maintain compliance.

Relational Presence Expectations

  • Communicate openly with the client, AMCL, and team if questions, errors, or blockers arise.
  • Proactively flag discrepancies, suggest solutions, and close loops.
  • Maintain tone that is clear, direct, and steady, especially during deadlines.
  • Support and mentor peers, share learnings, and offer review support when needed.

Requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 4–6 years progressive accounting experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of QBO.
  • Sales tax experience.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge including vlookups, pivot tables, macros, and automation.
  • Accrual and GAAP compliance experience
  • Strong understanding of AP, AR, reconciliations, payroll, and month-end processes.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience (CPA or similar is a plus).

Preferred Skills

  • G&A Partners or Worksight for time keeping and payroll processing.
  • Hospitality or ecommerce experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Ramp,Square, Xero, BILL.com, Gusto, Shopify (or similar).
