What you’ll do:
- Serve as the subject-matter expert for investor guidelines (Non-QM, Conforming, Jumbo) and program eligibility.
- Analyze, interpret, and translate complex investor guidelines including those for bank statements, DSCR, P&L, 1099s, and asset depletion into clear, structured logic for the pricing and eligibility engine.
- Update, maintain, and validate rules within the pricing engine to ensure all pricing (LLPAs, Spec Payups) and eligibility outputs are accurate and consistent with investor requirements.
- Proactively recommend improvements to guideline logic and system behavior to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Monitor, review, and interpret all investor communications (e.g., daily emails, notifications) for guideline, rate sheet (LLPA), and product changes.
- Determine the pricing and eligibility impact of changes and promptly implement them within the system (Polly), including adding new products and adjusting payups, often under same-day deadlines.
- Conduct systematic validation and testing of pricing and eligibility engine outputs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated customer support tickets, which may involve full audits of existing investor configurations for content accuracy in eligibility and pricing.
What you have:
- 7+ years of recent mortgage industry experience, with the last 5+ years focused on Non-QM, Non-Conforming, and Jumbo underwriting.
- Deep, practical expertise in investor guidelines for FNMA, FHLMC, and Non-QM programs, with the ability to accurately interpret and apply them.
- Specialized experience underwriting complex income, including bank statements, DSCR, 1099s, tax returns, and asset depletion.
- Technically adept and eager to transition into tech, with a desire to master rule engines, pricing models, workflow systems, and new platforms quickly. Savvy with tools like Excel.
- Analytical problem-solver with the ability to anticipate edge cases, think like both an underwriter and a systems analyst, and maintain a high level of detail and accuracy.
- Exceptional customer-centric communication skills, combining strong writing and verbal ability with empathy, diplomacy, and poise under pressure to resolve issues and explain technical concepts clearly.
