Generation West Virginia - NewForce Data Analytics Training Program - Career Prep Mentor
Purpose of Proposal
This proposal outlines contracted Career Preparation services to support NewForce students throughout their training period. The goal is to ensure each participant gains essential job-readiness skills and personalized career guidance that prepares them for employment in the tech sector upon graduation.
Scope of Work
The contractor will provide structured career preparation support for 20 NewForce students over a 4-month period. Services will include:
Individualized Student Support
- Conduct one-on-one career meetings with each student (minimum of two per student per month).
- Track progress and provide individualized action items and follow-up support.
Work Style & Professional Assessments
- Facilitate and interpret work style, skills, or values assessments.
- Provide personalized feedback and development plans for each student.
Career Materials Development
- Guide students in resume creation, revision, and optimization.
- Provide support in compiling portfolios, LinkedIn profiles, and other job-search materials as needed.
Job Search Coaching
- Assist students in identifying relevant job opportunities aligned with their skills and interests.
- Provide instruction on job-search strategies, application tracking, and networking best practices.
Interview Preparation
- Conduct mock interviews (virtual or in-person).
- Deliver feedback on interview performance, communication skills, and professional presentation.
Reporting & Coordination
- Maintain records of student interactions, progress, and completion of career readiness milestones.
- Provide monthly summary reports to NewForce leadership.
- Attend coordination meetings as requested (virtual unless otherwise agreed).
Deliverables
- Career preparation services for 20 students throughout the 4-month engagement.
- Minimum 160 total one-on-one sessions across the cohort (approx. 2 sessions per student per month). A total of up to 200 hours.
- Completed work style assessment results and summaries for each student.
- Completed resumes for all students.
- Monthly student progress reports.
- Final completion report at the end of the contract.
Timeline
- Contract Term: 4 months
- Proposed Start Date: January 20, 2026
- Proposed End Date: May 20, 2026
All services will be delivered on an agreed-upon schedule aligned with NewForce programming.
Compensation
Total compensation for the scope of work is $30 per hour for up to 200 hours, paid bi-monthly
The contractor will record entries detailing hours worked, services provided, and deliverables completed.
Mentor Qualifications
The Mentor brings the following relevant experience:
- Career coaching, workforce development, or student success support.
- Familiarity with the NewForce model or similar technical training programs. Newforce graudate/Alum preferred.
- Experience with resume development, interview coaching, and professional assessments.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Terms & Conditions
- Mentor will operate as an independent contractor, not an employee of Generation West Virginia.
- Mentor is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and equipment.
- Confidentiality of all student information must be maintained.
- Any changes to scope, deliverables, or compensation must be agreed upon in writing.
