Position Overview:
The Supervisor reports directly to the Lead Supervisor and is responsible for overseeing daily crew operations in the field. This role plays a vital part in executing construction activities, monitoring progress, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, and supporting the successful completion of projects.
The Supervisor works closely with field crews to provide real-time direction, troubleshoot issues, and maintain productivity. This position also assists with documentation, locate ticket coordination, and communication between the field and leadership teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise field crews during day-to-day construction activities to ensure quality work and timely completion.
- Report daily production metrics and crew updates to the Lead Supervisor.
- Conduct site walks to monitor job progress, assess quality, and verify safety compliance.
- Identify on-site issues or delays and communicate them to the Lead Supervisor for support and resolution.
- Enforce safety protocols in accordance with OSHA regulations, DOT requirements, and local permitting standards.
- Support locate ticket submission by verifying needs in the field and coordinating with administrative staff.
- Help implement and reinforce training provided by the Lead Supervisor to improve crew performance and adherence to best practices.
- Assist with material and equipment coordination, ensuring crews have what they need to complete work efficiently.
- Interpret and execute work based on construction drawings, engineering plans, and GIS data.
- Serve as a liaison between field crews and the Lead Supervisor, ensuring clear communication and direction.
- Maintain proper documentation, including timesheets, progress updates, and photos for project tracking
Requirements
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in OSP construction, fiber optics, telecommunications, or related field.
- Working knowledge of OSP construction methods (trenching, boring, aerial installs, etc.).
- Familiarity with job site safety standards and construction permitting requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and GIS maps.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with a focus on field leadership.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Proficient in basic technology tools (smartphone/tablet apps, email, MS Office).
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation to job sites
- Standard work schedule is Monday-Friday, as this is a salaried position, with no overtime eligibility. Weekend work may be required based on project demands.
- Work is primarily conducted in the field with exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow. Appropriate protective gear will be provided, and accommodations may be made as necessary to ensure worker safety in extreme weather conditions.
- The position requires frequent travel to job sites and occasional overnight stays.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Regular use of construction tools, heavy machinery, and safety equipment.
- Requires the ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces as needed.
- Certifications such as OSHA Fall Protection Training and Confined Space Entry certification may be required or provided by the company
