Centre for Sexuality is a nationally recognized community-based organization delivering programs and services to normalize sexuality and sexual health across an individual’s lifespan and we partner with individuals and organizations for the benefit of our clients and communities.

Sexual well-being for all is at the core of what we do. We teach, we train, and we advocate to support healthy bodies, healthy relationships, and healthy communities. We provide education, training, and counselling for everyone and have been leading the way in the areas of sexuality, healthy relationships, human rights, gender identity, sexual orientation, equality, and consent for 50 years.


 Position Overview:

 

Using our developed curricula a Facilitator with the Centre for Sexuality will lead programs through group activities and workshops to ensure that program objectives are met efficiently, and participants remain engaged. A Facilitator’s primary role is to support group learning, encourage active participation, and manage group dynamics in a way that fosters a positive and productive environment. At the developmental level, a Facilitator will have a strong understanding of the program, intended learning outcomes and be able to deliver the specific content through application of proven facilitation skills. WiseGuyz facilitates mid-adolescent, male-identified youth to critically examine and deconstruct male gender role stereotypes and expectations, with the objective of improving the mental and sexual health of young men and reducing male-perpetrated dating violence. As an internationally recognized inclusive masculinity program, WiseGuyz benefits significant academic research partnerships.  Boys Program is an elementary school program where participants explore their lives and critically examine gender norms and expectations through experiential activities and group discussion.


 As our successful candidate you will:



Program Administration:

  • Adhere to the program schedules, bookings and logistics for program sessions.
  • Assist with bookings, scheduling, and logistics for program sessions.
  • Follow organization’s policies and procedures and program guidelines.
  • Draft communication for internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Prepare and update materials, ensuring program resources are current and readily available.
  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, team meetings, training, and other initiatives.
  • Offer assistance to the communications staff with input on program promotional material, including posters, brochures, and all other types of print and online media.
  • Follow the established workplan, seeking clarification where required.

Program Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Collect and maintain program data.
  • Provide input on reports related to program activities and outcomes.
  • When requested, participate in program evaluations.
  • Provide feedback on curriculum and contribute to curriculum updates and reviews.
  • Participate in ongoing program monitoring, evaluation and improvement.

 Program Planning and Implementation: 

  • Facilitate programs using best practices in school-based settings with boys in elementary and and young men in Junior high, in-person and online.
  • Facilitate the WiseGuyz and Boys programs in community using curriculum tailored to specific community settings.
  • Review program materials and content and, if required, adapt to align with the needs of the audience.
  • Create safe and inclusive learning environments, sharing insights and providing feedback to participants.

Community Engagement:

  • Promote the Centre for Sexuality as a leader in programs and services for sexual health.
  • Represent the organization/program at internal and external meetings, events, and booths.
  • Attend parent/teacher nights at schools to promote and answer questions about WiseGuyz program when possible.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and school partners.
  • Respond to requests for information about the program in a professional and timely manner.

Training and Development:

  • Participate in Community Connect YYC Community of Practice and peer learning opportunities.
  • Stay updated on emerging research and best practices in social-emotional learning, sexual health promotion, gender equity and masculinity, relationship education and violence prevention.
  • Participate in program observations in support of professional development and program fidelity.
  • Engage in reflective practices to enhance professional growth.
  • Participate in annual performance development and growth planning process.
  • Demonstrate organizational values in the delivery of work and to inform decision-making.

 Partnership Engagement and Relationship Management: 

  • Maintain and nurture current partnerships and relationships.
  • Adhere to the partnership pipeline standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Child and Youth Studies, Education, Public Health, Social Work, or a related field; or a minimum of 2 years of related work experience.
  • Working knowledge of group facilitation techniques and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience applying community engagement values and practice.
  • Police Information Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.

Compensation and Work Environment:

  • Salary range $54,000-$60,000 annually. 
  • This position will be for a one-year term. 
  • Comprehensive benefits package.

  • Hybrid schedule is 1 day at home and 4 in office.  
  • Open and collaborative work environment.  
  • Travel to Calgary and surrounding areas, a car would be required.
