The Position
The Global External Manufacturing Operations Leader is accountable for ensuring reliable, compliant supply of Organon products from External Partners (EP) at a competitive cost from Phase III through the product life cycle. The ExM Operations (EXM Ops) Leader is specifically responsible for the global management of contract manufacturers and the integration into the Organon supply chain network. External manufacturing scope includes contract manufacturers of sterile and non-sterile: chemical intermediates, API’s, therapeutic proteins, formulations, filling, primary and secondary packaging. The ExM Ops Leader is also responsible for supporting the ExM Operations Lead in the execution of the Supply Strategy, people management/employee development within the ExM organization and meeting applicable financial and performance metrics.
Responsibilities
Leads a team of cross-functional Focus Factory Teams, which manage each External Partner (EP) and ensures proper execution of the supply management process, to achieve world class supplier performances.
Serves as the owner of company relationships with the EP in the platform.
Directs FFTs to ensure all operational related activities such as dispute resolution, balancing company delivery requirements with EP production plans, order transactions and logistics, and effective oversight of shop floor production by the ExM cross-functional teams.
Works closely with the ExM team and EP to proactively assess and mitigate supply, quality and EHS risks and drive continuous improvement activities.
Applies understanding of the end-to-end supply chain (i.e. design, plan, source, make and deliver), knowledge of cross-functional interdependencies within the company and an understanding of the interactions with internal sites to achieve operational excellence.
Supported by the EM Finance Leader, participates in the annual profit planning process, provides a monthly estimated actual on the organization’s projected and actual spending and maintains a multi-year capital plan/budget (for investment at EPs where deemed appropriate) e.g., Organon specific/dedicated equipment, joint investment to augment capacity.
Sets Strategy and targets for team to execute programs and initiatives working together with EPs to drive mutually beneficial business results.
Partners with Procurement in the renewal of MSAs and identification/selection of new contract manufacturers and negotiation/termination of supply agreements, as required.
Resolves significant dispute resolution and management with EPs.
Facilitates the collection of contract manufacturer’s capacity information (e.g., stated capacity, firm capacity, future capacity plans, time horizon / lead times required, comments / concerns, etc.), develops options that drive recommendations for capacity expansion at contract manufacturers, as required.
Is responsible for ensuring contract terms agreed upon with the EP are executed in compliance with the Supply and Quality Agreements.
Facilitates and participates in periodic Business Review meeting with EPs.
Supported by the Business Partner, is responsible for all ExM Operations people related matters including but not limited to staffing, employee development (technical, business and leadership), career development, performance & compensation management, employee relations and change management, etc.
Supported by the ExM Technology, provides technical support to EPs for technology transfers and on-going process support including change control, investigations, source changes and capital projects, etc.
Required Education, Experience and Skills
Bachelor or higher degree preferably in Engineering, Science or Business.
Minimum 15 years of relevant work experience in Pharma Industry in commercial/business and manufacturing with more than one leadership role in operations, project management, quality, technology, or supply chain.
Ability to think strategically, identifying opportunities that add value to the work and proactively mitigate risk across the value chain.
Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, project management, collaboration, negotiations and analytical skills.
Must be decisive in ambiguous environment and able to be the one face of Organon to an external party.
Has demonstrated strong leadership in a teamwork environment and with strong team coordination abilities.
Strong business and financial acumen; has skills to understand and intelligently apply economic, financial and industry data to make business decisions that drive value for our company and our customers.

Deep knowledge and expertise in manufacturing & packaging operations as well as end-to-end supply chain management to drive results and business outcomes.
Deep understanding of GMP and EHS compliance requirements and knowledge of applicable regulations
