Role Purpose 

 

Reporting to the Global Head of Collateral & Liquidity Management (CaLM). The Head of Product for CaLM will own and lead the product strategy in conjunction with the Global Head of CaLM and the respective COOs globally for both Ltd & SA.   

 

The role will define the roadmap together with CaLM COO and Global Head. Be responsible for the investigation into new collateral & investments initiatives across different asset classes to ensure they are efficient, aligned to regulatory requirements, competitively placed, aligned with market trends and regulatory requirements and deliver commercial value. The incumbent will work across business, front office, risk, sales, legal, ops, tech and finance functions to innovate and scale collateral & liquidity capabilities, while handling risk appropriately.   

 

Key responsibilities of the role: 

 

 

Product Strategy & vision  

 

The Head of Product is a member of the CaLM Leadership Team and has a leading part to play in the development and implementation of the Group’s strategic collateral programme 

 

To play a crucial role in setting the vision and owning the planning process, identifying, acquiring consensus and implementing the strategic goals that are in line with the Group Strategic Objectives 

 

Primary responsibility for conducting market research, landscape comparisons and regulatory horizon scanning to advise product direction. 

 

Engagement with sell-side and buy-side institutions through developing relationships, understanding pain points and deep diving into new asset classes.  

 

Represent LCH/LSEG to sales as well as on external and internal panels focusing on building the pivotal story of collateral and innovation in the marketplace.  

 

Find opportunities for collateral and investment initiatives in collaboration with Global Head of CaLM, CaLM Front Office (Investment), Risk,  Collateral Advisory Group and Sales.  

 

Serve as a key contributor to the Collateral Advisory Group (CAG), supporting the evolution of its strategic vision and overall development.  

 

Innovation and Transformation  

 

Drive Innovation in collateral and liquidity through digital asset research and development, market and regulatory developments in Money Market Funds, Bond ETF’s and other potential asset classes 

 

Assess and provide updates upon emerging technologies and trends (e.g. tokenization, Distributed Ledger Technology  

 

Lead strategic change programmes and ensure successful delivery in collaboration with teams across LCH, including operations infrastructure, first line risk, compliance and other partners  

 

Management & Cross Functional Leadership  

 

To build and develop a strong internal network, including business, sales, operations, technology and other functions, to support growth of the business and always ensure strong internal communication. 

 

Present to executive management, clients, regulators (where required), heads of businesses and risk on product strategy. 

 

Lead and mentor existing product team, defining roles and responsibilities and direction across the wider the CaLM team.   

 

Risk, Controls and Compliance  

 

Maintain a strong risk and control environment. Ensuring adherence to relevant regulations, internal policies, risk models and limits.  

 

Work closely with all relevant risk partners (e.g. FL/SL risk, legal, compliance, technology, operations, regulatory reporting and COO) to ensure product satisfies all required controls.  

 

 

 

Crucial experience and skills required: 

 

Candidates must have an in depth understanding of collateral, post-trade markets, having had experience of a strategic role within collateral management, treasury/funding roles in banking, securities services or related financial services environment 

 

Extensive knowledge of financial products relevant to the role including but not limited to: repos, fixed income, OTC derivatives margin and assets generally used for collateral purposes.  

 

Detailed knowledge of market infrastructure including CSD’s, Custodians globally and tri-party mechanisms.  

 

Good understanding of regulatory environment including EMIR, UMR, Basel III/IV 

 

Experience running large or multiple sophisticated product portfolios & leading product teams and teams not directly reporting to you; strong leadership required. 

 
 
 

Demonstrate an understanding of the post trade lifecycle, CCP’s and cleared products including swaps, forex, repos and equities.  

 
 

Be able to engage buy-side and banks across geographies 

 
 
 

Previous experience of working in an international and multi-cultural environment.  

 
 

Consistent track record to lead, forge positive relationships both within and outside the company, establishing rapport and professional respect with external partners 

 
 

To provide leadership, prioritisation and direction, ensuring a seamless interaction with the other business areas within LCH and the wider LSEG institutions, including demonstrating LSEG’s Leadership Behaviours and the Cultural Intent in day-to-day activities 

 
 

Ability to work with diverse customer base to drive consensus on complex topics including willingness to challenge customers and partners to better understand their needs

Strong commercial skills to ensure a business orientated approach and focus on the key implications of financial information and forecasts for the business.
