We're looking for an experienced Payment and Fraud Director to join our Operations team and lead the evolution of our payment ecosystem and fraud prevention strategies across 70+ countries.

  • Team Leadership & Development
  • Build, lead and inspire cross-functional Payment and Fraud teams, creating an environment where talent thrives and grows
  • Establish clear team structures, processes, goals and career development paths to ensure long-term stability and engagement
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous learning across your teams
  • Act as a mentor and role model, particularly for junior team members

  • Fraud Strategy & Operations
  • Co Develop and implement with Product team a comprehensive fraud prevention strategy that protects our community while maintaining a smooth user experience with the objective to introduce more automated and gradual responses to fraud
  • Move beyond binary decision-making to create nuanced, risk-based approaches (risk scoring, identity verification, graduated responses)
  • Design processes that increase user trust, by reducing exposure to fraud, enable our business, by reducing fraud losses and mitigation costs
  • Balance fraud prevention with business growth, ensuring we don't lose valuable community members to overly restrictive measures

  • Payment Innovation & Optimization
  • Lead payment strategy across 70+ countries and multiple payment methods, identifying opportunities for innovation and optimization
  • Evaluate and optimize existing payment methods based on conversion data and user behavior
  • Explore and implement new payment technologies (wallets, pay-in/pay-out solutions, instant transfers)
  • Drive PSP strategy and evaluation, including potential diversification beyond current providers
  • Improve payout capabilities and reduce processing times for sellers

  • Strategic Collaboration
  • Work closely with Data, Performance, and Project teams to leverage shared resources effectively
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and other stakeholders to implement payment and fraud solutions
  • Challenge existing approaches and bring fresh perspectives to payment operations
  • Contribute to broader Operations strategy and cross-team initiatives
  • Build and maintain an active professional network across the payment and fraud prevention industry to stay ahead of emerging threats and innovations


  • Who you are ⭐
  • Essential Experience
  • 8+ years of experience in payments and fraud prevention, with significant experience in e-commerce or marketplace environments
  • 5+ years of people management experience, with a proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams
  • Deep understanding of payment fraud, risk management, and fraud prevention and automation technologies
  • Experience with international payments, multiple PSPs, and diverse payment methods
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to drive decision-making

  • Ideal Background
  • Experience at leading marketplaces, e-commerce platforms, or fintech companies
  • Background in both payment fraud and broader fraud prevention (beyond payments)
  • Experience with modern payment technologies and emerging solutions
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements across multiple markets
  • Experience with payment optimization and conversion improvement
  • Collaborative leadership style with strong emotional intelligence
  • Strategic thinking combined with hands-on execution capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across all organizational levels
  • Adaptability and comfort with ambiguity in a fast-growing environment

  • What success looks like
  • First 3 months: Complete comprehensive discovery phase, ensure team stability, and begin identifying optimal organizational structure
  • First 6 months: Deliver quick wins across payment and fraud operations, implement initial process improvements
  • First year: Establish clear strategic roadmap, build resilient team structures, and potentially expand scope to adjacent areas
