The Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs is a key member of the executive leadership team and will lead end-to-end communications and stakeholder management that advances the company’s mission and business objectives. This role will be responsible for internal and external communication, patient advocacy, government affairs and policy, and oversees environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives.
This position will drive strategic communication programs that ensure consistent corporate and brand messaging, foster a strong organizational culture, and build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Additional responsibilities include strengthening partnerships with patient organizations, leading social innovation efforts, and proactively managing engagement with government and community initiatives.
Responsibilities (included but not limited to):
- Protect and promote the corporate brand globally by providing high-level strategy, practical vision and counsel to the CEO and executive leadership team. Provide the broadest perspective to create a corporate affairs strategy that shapes the company’s reputation
- Create and lead a global inter-disciplinary, collaborative team to include employee communications and engagement, external communications (media and social), public affairs, policy, patient advocacy, social impact, and crisis management to support the company’s business objectives, and to advance and safeguard the company’s image and reputation across a broad range of internal and external audiences
- Engage with Finance and Investor Relations to create compelling investor messaging for major conferences and events as well as quarterly earnings update. Ensure corporate messaging, medical developments and commercial priorities are appropriately aligned and augmented
- Develop and implement an overall company corporate brand strategy, communication multi-year roadmap, corporate digital asset strategy and media relations strategy
- Work with CEO and senior leaders to align all messaging to ensure an integrated approach that reinforces brand values and thought leadership
- Support CEO to manage relationships with governments, patient associations and key industry associations
- Collaborate with R&D related functions to understand and align pre-clinical communication strategy ensuring the most effective conditioning of market readiness and uptake
- Partner with commercial teams to amplify commercial strategies including product launch and major milestones. Work across brands to plan and implement digital media, public relations, branded and unbranded communication programs and patient advocacy initiatives to increase target audience awareness and desired behaviors
- Create and maintain branded, therapeutic area and corporate digital assets including Web sites, social media and digital marketing campaigns that augment corporate, medical and brand strategy
- Nurture a high-performance department environment and implement a functional people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vision/values/business strategy, and managing succession and development planning for the team
- Establish and maintain high-level contacts with a wide variety of stakeholders, including industry associations and partnerships, the media, patient groups, communities, and other affiliated groups to build, maintain and defend Catalyst’s reputation
- Represent the company through the media or public speaking and influencer engagement and manage collaborations and partnerships with other companies and organizations
- Develop innovative programs to grow visibility, presence, and credibility with its audiences. This includes fueling mission and vision through social innovation, strategic partnerships, sponsorships, employee engagement, and other brand-building initiatives
- Position leadership externally on key topics; work collaboratively with CEO to understand and amplify voice, messaging and leadership priorities
- Serve as the company’s chief spokesperson, particularly in crises or on highly sensitive issues where the company’s image and reputation might be at significant risk
- Work with executive leadership team to establish and continuously refine the corporate narrative with clear, compelling, and consistent messages to support the brands and corporate reputation
- Closely monitor news, social media, policy discussions and other sources of information to understand and anticipate how the company, its pipeline and products and subject areas of interest are being perceived and discussed; share such insights and analysis with colleagues on a timely basis
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Education/Experience/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in communication or related disciplines, advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 15+ years of appropriate experience across corporate affairs disciplines. Previous focus on corporate communications required, ideally in a pharmaceutical or pharmaceutical adjacent organization. Prior media industry or government/political experience helpful
- Bachelor’s degree in communication or related disciplines, advanced degree preferred
- Significant experience in senior leadership roles that combine reputational risk management and corporate external and internal communications
- Ability to provide strategic influence and counsel across a large, dispersed, and matrixed global organization
- Trustworthy senior advisor with strong moral character and sensitivity and discretion around confidential information
- An exemplary performance record, outstanding judgment, and a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment. Demonstrated ability to be a quick learner with keen intuition and strong initiative
- Well-developed and maintained industry relationships, and a solid understanding of current events, policy and the news media industry
- Demonstrated competency in short-form and long-form writing skills, and effective public speaking
- Cultural awareness; experience operating globally
- Ability to learn, synthesize, and accurately disseminate information across a variety of business lines
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to balance creative thinking with strong attention to detail and work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment

The base salary for this position will range from $380,000 to $420,000. Candidate experience, professional licensing, and geographic location will be taken into consideration.
