Education and Experience: A High School Diploma or GED or higher and one (1) year of experience in meter reading or customer service.
Licenses and Certificates: Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state.
Position Duties
Under general supervision, perform a variety of service calls to start up, terminate, inspect, maintain and repair water services for customers.
Minimum Qualifications
Provide a variety of customer services. Involves: Receive service work orders taken by customer service clerks in the main office. Install water service for new accounts. Install or remove locks or plugs on meters. Install gaskets to turn on service for new customers. Carry out service orders for regular cutoffs and turn ons, reinstate service and make repairs on water department customer service lines. Conduct field collections of monies on past due accounts. Install locks and plugs on service unable to collect for past due accounts. Reinstate services once back payments are made. Repair meters. Verify readings on meters when customer has questions on bill or office requires verification of meter reading. Explain policies and resolve customer complaints. Install radio frequency meters.
Important Note: Required Supplemental Questions and answers are considered an examination component and will generate a score.
This position is limited to City of El Paso Water department employees only.
Applicants are being tested on a conditional basis pending review of minimum qualifications. Applications will be reviewed for applicants that pass the Supplemental Questions exam.
Per CSC Rules & Regulations, after review of the minimum qualifications for applicants that pass the Supplemental Questions exam, a passing score, combined with applicable seniority points and veteran points, will be used to create a list of candidates.
