SUMMARY
Supporting after-school programs, including athletic programs, residential programs, and student development programs. Assists in teaching students social, leisure, and other daily living. Assists with athletic practices/games and in developing activities associated with an after school program and recreational program. Coordinates schedules and provides program instruction to all students (day and residential) and supervises after school activities including athletic programs. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supervises residential and day students, as assigned, in dormitories, athletic locations including home and away games, and other campus areas and on off-campus excursions.
- Assists with developing and conducting after school programs/clubs/Special Olympics and other student activities.
- Accompany and assist with supervising student athletes on sporting events at TSD and away games.
- With instructions from the Supervisor of Student Development, provides direct supervision of student athletes in vehicles, locker rooms, gyms, playing fields, dining rooms, and dorms during sport practices and participation.
- Stress good sportsmanship, safety, positive community relations, during student development-related activities and a positive image of the school to students, staff, opponents and parents.
- Promotes the environment of positive Social, Emotional and Learning during after school programs including athletics.
- Monitors and assists students with homework/projects.
- Transports students and staff in school vehicles to/from school activities.
- Escorts students to health services or other locations as needed.
- Assists Student Development Coordinator in providing educational workshops.
- Creates and supports a positive learning environment through communications, role modeling, fun and engaging activities.
- Assists in developing flyers and bulletin boards for after-school events.
- Additional duties as assigned.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- May assist with home-going program on either Fridays/Sundays when needed.
- May work weekends as scheduled.
- May assist with major campus-wide events.
