TITLE: School Psychologist

SUPERVISOR: Assistant Superintendent for Student Services
JOB SUMMARY: The School Psychologist has a foundation in both psychology and education and assists in developing a school environment that assesses and supports students academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Implement a problem-solving framework as a basis for all professional activities
- Participate in and facilitate, as needed, RTI/Problem-Solving meetings and special education collaboration meetings.
- Collect data from multiple sources as a foundation for decision-making.
- Use valid and reliable assessment techniques.
- Observe the academics and behaviors of students in classrooms for evaluation and problem-solving purposes.

- Assist teachers, as time allows, in assessment administration
- Assist teachers in data collection, management and analysis.
- Make recommendations based on full individual evaluation data for special education, 504 eligibility, services and/or program placement, academic or behavioral accommodations, and community services.
- Comply with district eligibility criteria when determining eligibility for special education services.
- Meet all district, state, and federal timelines and requirements for special education services.
- Prepare clearly- written reports that address referral questions and provide guidance for intervention strategies in a timely manner.
- Work within the school and community to facilitate the implementation of recommendations.
- Consult with teachers and other personnel regarding service and needs.
- Provide training to building or district staff on evaluation procedures, eligibility criteria, RTI and problem-solving procedures, research-validated methods for academics and behaviors, data collection procedures, characteristics of disabling conditions, and other necessary in-service topics.
- Contribute to the planning of district-wide programs and services.
- Attend building, district, and other required meetings.
- Attend professional meetings, trainings, and other activities for professional improvement.
- Provide individual counseling, direct instruction, check-in/check-out, and other activities to enhance student support in the school as time allows.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
- Master’s degree in school psychology
EXPERIENCE
- Two years of school-based experience preferred
LICENSES/CREDENTIALS: Illinois licensure as a School Psychologist
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish necessary
- Must work well within a team environment
- Highly organized
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Excellent problem-solver
- Should be able to work with students with a history of behavior or learning problems.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

- This is a position within the collective bargaining unit and is not an administrative position.
- This is an exempt position.
- Student Contact Days and other days stipulated on the work calendar in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
