Description

General Purpose 

This position will provide friendly, fast and accurate service to members, and be responsible for explaining various products and services as well as recognize and suggest solutions to member’s needs.  The position will support the Credit Union to exceed goals by provide account referrals.  It will also abide by and maintain knowledge of Credit Union policies and procedures to protect member accounts and Credit Union assets.  

This position will be located in our San Pedro Branch (with ability to cover in our Long Beach and Wilmington branches as needed) (Monday-Friday). This position will become part of a union bargaining unit after 90 days of satisfactory employment.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  1. Accurately perform teller transactions in accordance with Credit Union policies and procedures, and in compliance with regulatory requirements and security procedures, such as: Receive checks and cash for deposit to savings & checking accounts, verify deposit amounts, and examine checks for endorsement, negotiability and check-hold requirements.
  2. Process withdrawals, transfers, credit card cash and line of credit advances, and loan payments.
  3. Place stop payments of all sorts, process gift cards, and complete required forms.
  4. Process and review disputes for ACH/Share Draft/Cards.
  5. Maintain cash drawer within prescribed cash limits and meet cash balancing requirements; dual-control for TCD and vault.
  6. Enroll members and cross-sell products.
  7. Assist members by phone with account questions, products or services.
  8. Assist members in completing loan applications.
  9. Assist members with questions regarding their accounts, including Trust Accounts, IRAs and CDs.
  10. Investigate errors on members’ accounts.
  11. Provide friendly, fast and accurate service to members.
  12. Explain various Credit Union products and services to members.
  13. Recognize and suggest solutions for members’ needs.
  14. Perform specific and delegated duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  1. Must be able to pass background, credit history and bondability checks.
  2. Requires an equivalent of a high school level of language, math and reasoning skills, and at least 2 years of experience as Member Services Rep/Teller related experience.  
  3. Cash handling experience required.
  4. Symitar experience a plus (please detail on your resume).
  5. Thorough knowledge of regulations affecting Credit Union’s membership eligibility.
  6. Excellent sales and customer service, and interpersonal communications skills.
  7. Ability to protect and adhere to member privacy and confidentiality guidelines.
  8. Good written communication skills.
  9. Good math, reading, and comprehension abilities.
  10. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  11. Self-motivated and self-directed.
  12. Good organization and time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  13. Good analytical and problem-solving skills.  Ability to collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  14. Ability to maintain accuracy and promptly complete duties with a high degree of attention to detail while meeting demanding deadlines.
  15. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  16. Working knowledge of English, spelling, and grammar.
  17. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding Credit Union records and data.

Work Environment

Work is performed in an air-conditioned and heated office environment with exposure to basic office equipment and typical moderate office noise.
