RK&K is seeking an Engineer to join our Energy and Corrosion team in Richmond, VA. This is an excellent opportunity for you to take the next step in your career. On our Energy and Corrosion team, you will support a variety of projects that may include design, preparation of construction documents, project coordination, construction management and operations support. This position affords you the opportunity to fully engage in solving complex problems, provide technical evaluation, and evaluate the costs and benefits of alternative solutions. Some travel is required.
Essential Functions
- Develop technically accurate, clean, and deliverable drawings
- Write specifications, review submittals, coordinate project submissions, and communicate with clients
- Responsible charge-support the preparation of multi-discipline drawing sets as required for assigned projects
- Promote, utilize, and support quality assurance and quality control processes to improve the quality of deliverables and reduce design errors & omissions
- Research and understand regulatory compliance AND client requirements for assigned projects
- Assist project managers with design calculations, analysis, specification review, and cost estimates for project proposals
- Join internal and client meetings, presentations, and approval of plans
- Work directly with the owner, designer, project managers, and contractors on projects while expanding your capabilities
Required Education, Skills and Experience
- One (1) to Four (4) years of engineering experience, preferably in the natural gas industry (Position within career ladder will take total experience into consideration)
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Civil preferred)
- Ability to coordinate simultaneous tasks
- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in communicating technical information
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work both collaboratively/in a team environment and independently
- Proficiency with AutoCAD
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
Preferred Education, Skills and Experience
- Engineer-in-Training license (preferably VA)
- Natural gas distribution and/or transmission design
- Knowledge of CFR Part 192 regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of conventional construction methods and trenchless technologies
- Natural gas facilities design (e.g. district regulator stations, gate stations, inline inspection facilities)
- Proficiency with MicroStation, ArcGIS and ESRI software
Occasional travel as assigned either locally or extended distances, can be one or more nights away from home.
