Join us for this incredible opportunity to be part of our Engineering team as the Engineering Manager at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans. This on‑site role focuses on the hotel’s engineering operations, ensuring optimal maintenance, safety compliance, and guest satisfaction through efficient management of facilities and technical teams day‑to‑day reliability of hotel systems.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, The Engineering Manager is responsible for the oversight of the operation of the hotel, consisting of 1,193 rooms and 200,000 sq. ft. of meeting space.  This individual must possess strong trouble-shooting skills in all areas of maintenance in guest rooms, meeting space, and front of the house areas, as well as back of house areas including kitchen, laundry, electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems, using a windows based computer system. Ability to read blue prints and schematics is also required. A minimum of 5-years building maintenance experience is required, with hotel experience preferred. A strong working knowledge of all major building systems, including life-safety systems, is required for this position. Good communication skills are necessary. 

Additionally, this position requires strong leadership skills, and a willingness to work different shifts as the demands of business dictates. 

Job Responsibilities include

  • Oversees the maintenance and repair of all property assets to ensure they are in proper working order for guest

  • Leads a team of engineers, technicians, and contractors to address any problems with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or other systems.

  • Collaborates with other departments (such as housekeeping, food and beverage, and front desk) to prioritize maintenance needs and minimize interruptions to guest comfort.

  • Develops and implements preventative maintenance programs to extend the lifespan of equipment and reduce operating costs.

  • Manages budgets and procurement processes to acquire necessary supplies and services within approved spending limits.

  • Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and health regulations by maintaining accurate records and conducting regular audits.

  • Communicates effectively with guests and staff about maintenance issues, progress on repairs, and any necessary precautions or inconveniences.

  • Stays up to date on industry trends and emerging technologies and adapts standard practices and procedures to improve efficiency and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications - External

·        Minimum 3 years engineering supervisory/management experience in a mid to large size hotel (minimum 700 rooms)

·        College degree from accredited university

·        Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds

·        Service oriented style with professional presentation and communication skills

·        A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment.

·        Refined verbal communication skills

·        Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holiday

·        Proficient in basic computer skills as well as hotel systems (such as Opera, Hotsos, Rex, etc.
