About the Role:
VU teaches using the Block Model®, in which units are delivered one at a time over a four-week period or an eight week period. Sessional staff may teach up to two classes per block, totalling up to 18 teaching hours per week.
VU’s College of Arts, Business, Law, Education and IT is inviting expressions of interest from qualified academics in science and environmental education for sessional teaching roles in our postgraduate programs in Teacher Education.
Sessional teaching includes preparation for delivery, delivery, and marking assessments, and student support. Teaching may be conducted in person and online in real time, with day and evening classes offered across Victoria University’s campuses.

Your responsibilities include:
- Preparing and delivering science education and sustainability education units to Master students.
- Teaching in a range of formats, including face-to-face, block, and online real-time modes
- Supporting students through diligent record-keeping, timely marking, and constructive feedback to track and enhance academic progress
- Working collaboratively with a dynamic team of sessional and ongoing academic staff to strengthen curriculum and share best practices.
- Adhering to Victoria University’s policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Who We're Looking For:
A PhD in science is preferred; a minimum of a Master’s degree in science is required
Expertise in environmental education, ideally with a focus on climate change
Recent teaching or relevant industry experience
Competence and confidence in using educational technologies.
