About the Role:
The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive mental health care to diverse patient populations within a rural health clinic setting. Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with specialization as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
- Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of practice.
- Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience in psychiatric or mental health nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in diverse healthcare settings including inpatient, outpatient, or community mental health clinics.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telepsychiatry platforms..
- Strong background in crisis intervention and management.
- Advanced training in psychopharmacology.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments to identify patient needs and formulate diagnoses.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing and managing psychotropic medications.
- Provide psychotherapy and counseling services tailored to patient-specific mental health conditions.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with advances in psychiatric nursing practice.
