Position Summary
The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating all sanitation activities within the SunButter production facility. This role ensures that the facility maintains the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety compliance. The Supervisor manages sanitation staff, oversees cleaning schedules, and partners with production and quality teams to support a safe and efficient operation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Oversight
- Supervise and direct sanitation team members across all shifts.
- Assign daily cleaning tasks and monitor completion to ensure compliance with standards.
- Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to sanitation staff.
2. Sanitation Program Management
- Oversee routine and deep cleaning of production equipment (roasters, grinders, mixers, packaging machinery).
- Ensure production areas (floors, walls, ceilings, and surfaces) are consistently cleaned and sanitized.
- Verify proper use of cleaning agents and sanitizers in accordance with safety and manufacturer guidelines.
3. Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Enforce adherence to HACCP, GMP, and company food safety policies.
- Conduct regular inspections to confirm compliance with sanitation standards.
- Document deficiencies and implement corrective actions promptly.
4. Equipment Oversight
- Manage sanitation equipment (pressure washers, floor scrubbers, etc.), ensuring proper operation and maintenance.
- Schedule routine servicing and repairs as needed.
- Train staff on safe and effective equipment use.
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate sanitation records, including logs, checklists, and compliance reports.
- Report sanitation issues, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards to the Facilities Manager.
- Provide updates on sanitation performance to leadership.
6. Safety & Health Compliance
- Promote a safe work environment by enforcing PPE use and safety protocols.
- Respond to and report safety incidents immediately, ensuring corrective measures are taken.
- Lead by example in maintaining a culture of safety.
7. Collaboration & Support
- Coordinate cleaning schedules with production staff to minimize downtime.
- Support special cleaning projects and cross-functional initiatives.
- Partner with Quality Assurance to align sanitation practices with food safety goals.
8. Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve sanitation processes and efficiency.
- Participate in training and development programs to stay current with best practices.
- Encourage innovation and accountability within the sanitation team.
Experience:
- 3–5 years of sanitation experience in a food production environment.
- 1–2 years of supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of sanitation procedures, HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to operate and maintain sanitation equipment.
- Capable of lifting and moving heavy objects as needed.
- Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying temperatures.
- Flexible to work across shifts, weekends, or extended hours as required.
Working Conditions
- Based in the SunButter production facility with exposure to machinery, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures.
- Requires standing, bending, and physical exertion for extended periods.
- Must adhere to all safety protocols and PPE requirements.
