POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Behavioral Health is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and management of behavioral health services within the organization. This includes oversight of clinical operations, program development, staff supervision, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and budget management. The Director ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered services that align with organizational goals and community needs for an integrated care model within the Primary Care/Medical Home
GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Public Health or related field
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Clear and Active Florida State License as mandated by the Florida Board
- 5–10 years in behavioral health or clinical services, with at least 3–5 years in leadership or program management.
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams (psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, nurses).
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement behavioral health programs, manage budgets, and oversee compliance.
- Familiarity with evidence-based practices, trauma-informed care, integrated care models, and data-driven quality improvement within a healthcare or community-based behavioral health setting.
- Excellent collaboration skills required for community relationship building
- Knowledge of federal or state regulations or laws impacting behavioral health services and the corresponding program development
- Communicate effectively in writing, including the preparation of administrative, technical, and statistical reports.
- Ability to make quick and accurate clinical assessments of behavioral conditions
- Proficiency in using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record software
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex operations
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide leadership, direction, and direct oversight of the department, in collaboration with the executive team and directors of other departments.
- Maintains continuity in seeing patients on a regular basis
- Participates and performs annual reviews for behavioral health staff
- Integrates behavioral health services, in its entirety amongst other departments
- A member of the team that ensures compliance with the Standards for AAAHC, HRSA and other regulatory bodies, as appropriate.
- Participates in developing policies and protocols related to behavioral health
- Assist in the development and implementation of behavior modification programs and/or treatment and intervention programs including group treatment to improve health outcomes
- Collaborates with other providers on difficult cases, to plan and coordinate treatment. Additionally, assists in developing the integrated care model within the scope of primary care
- Ensure provision of Behavioral Health services to patients in a safe environment through the management and training of Behavioral Health staff
- Serves on leadership committees, as determined by the executive team
- Perform other related duties as assigned

- Responsible for oversight of the administration of the procedures related to the provision of supervision, crisis emergency management, quality, and evaluation of services provided
