About the Role:

The Clinic Supervisor is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of clinical support staff within the practice. This exempt position includes direct supervision of Medical Assistants and other clinical support roles. The Clinic Supervisor ensures efficient patient flow, staff scheduling, and clinical support coverage while upholding service and safety standards. In partnership with the practice leader, this role manages timesheets, performance reviews, and day-to-day staff development. The Clinic Supervisor also assists with recruitment by coordinating interviews, participating in candidate selection, and supporting compensation decisions in collaboration with the recruiter and practice leader.

What You’ll Do:

Clinical Oversight & Operations:

  • Monitor and support day-to-day clinical workflows to ensure efficiency and continuity of care.
  • Oversee exam room readiness, inventory management, and clinical supply ordering.
  • Coordinate with providers to ensure appropriate staffing and support for scheduled patients.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, infection control, OSHA, and other clinical safety protocols.
  • Support high standards of patient care and service delivery across all clinical support roles.

Team Leadership and Supervision:

  • Supervise clinical support staff including Medical Assistants and other assigned team members.
  • Manage scheduling, timecard approvals, and daily staff assignments.
  • Conduct regular performance check-ins and annual performance reviews.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and corrective feedback to team members as needed.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate onboarding and skill development for clinical staff.

Practice Coordination & Support:

  • Partner with the Practice Manager or Administrator to align on clinic goals and staffing strategies.
  • Support clinical compliance initiatives and assist with policy or workflow implementation.
  • Participate in team huddles and clinic meetings to communicate updates and expectations.
  • Escalate concerns or operational challenges to the practice leader as appropriate.

Recruitment & Staff Development:

  • Coordinate interviews and shadowing for clinical support candidates.
  • Participate in hiring decisions and provide input on compensation recommendations.
  • Support a positive team culture that promotes collaboration, growth, and accountability.

As with any dynamic clinical setting, responsibilities may evolve to meet the changing needs of the clinic and support overall team success.

Qualifications


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • 3+ years of clinical experience required; prior supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical workflows, back-office operations, and patient care standards.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage clinical support staff.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in EMR systems and general office technology.

Work Environment & Physical Expectations:

  • On-site role in a clinical office setting.
  • Monday–Friday, daytime schedule; occasional after-hours meetings may be required.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, move throughout the office as needed, and perform light lifting; manual dexterity required for frequent computer and phone use.
