Position Summary
Preferred Capital Management (PCM) is seeking an Accounting Assistant to support the financial operations of multiple swine production entities. This role performs a variety of clerical and accounting tasks related to payables, receivables, and record keeping.
The Accounting Assistant manages the daily flow of invoices, statements, and financial data to ensure accurate entry and timely processing across entities. Working closely with the Controller and Accounting Specialists, this position provides essential support for month-end closing and helps maintain organized, efficient accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Accounts Payable & Receivable Support
· Enter vendor invoices accurately and ensure supporting documentation is complete.
· Prepare and send customer invoices as directed by Accounting Specialists.
· Record and apply payments to customer and vendor accounts.
· Maintain vendor and customer information, including W-9s, payment terms, and contact details.
· Track incoming invoices and statements, following up on missing or incomplete information.
Document Intake & Organization
· Monitor the shared accounting inbox and route emails, invoices, and requests to the correct team members.
· Download, name, and file bank, loan, and credit card statements for all entities.
· Maintain consistent electronic filing systems to ensure each entity’s month-end documentation is organized and complete.
· Keep accounting folders current and ensure all materials are properly labeled and accessible for audit or review.
Month-End Close Support
· Assist with preparing month-end folders and checklists for each entity.
· File reconciliations, reports, and supporting documentation as directed by Accounting Specialists or the Controller.
· Verify that all required documents (bank statements, invoices, accrual support, etc.) are received and stored in the correct locations.
Administrative & Team Support
· Perform data entry, scanning, and general record maintenance.
· Assist Accounting Specialists with document preparation and report distribution.
· Communicate professionally with vendors, customers, and internal departments regarding basic accounting inquiries.
· Uphold confidentiality and accuracy in all accounting and financial activities.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
· Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
· 1–3 years of accounting or administrative experience (agriculture or production industry experience a plus).
· Familiarity with general accounting principles, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
· Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and accounting software; experience with Acumatica, QuickBooks, or similar systems preferred.

Working Conditions
· Office-based position with regular communication to farm locations.
· Standard business hours with additional time as needed during month-end or audit periods.
· Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds of files or materials.
