A Brief Overview

Provides direct support for transplant services for organ procurements. Position requires air travel to procurement sites throughout the United States.

What you will do

• Prepares and packs supplies for travel to procurement site.
• Prepares back table to prep organ for transplant.
• Assists transplant surgeon during organ procurement procedures.
• Maintains a sterile field at all times in the procedure area.
• Maintains efficiency in handling surgical instruments at surgeon's request.
• Achieves and maintains working knowledge of procurement machinery and equipment used on the sterile field (i.e., scope equipment, slush machines, kidney pump and electric motors).
• Assists in transporting of organs from procurement site to Avera.
• Communicates with host OPO, travel team, and others as during procurement process.
• Maintains regulatory standards (CMS/OPTN) within scope of practice.
• Performs other duties and tasks related to organ procurement as assigned.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

• High School or GED Equivalent

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

• Associate's Surgical Tech program
• Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) Upon Hire
• Less than 1 year Previous experience as a Procurement Technologist
