Oversees water chemistry, maintenance, and repairs of City operated swimming pools, following the guidelines of local Department of Health, State of Florida and national industry standards.
Position Duties
Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. - Maintains proper pool chemistry and reporting requirements per Department of Health standards
- Record all daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance procedures
- Handles hazardous chemicals; chlorine disinfection system, chemical feeders, valves, and pool filtration pump system
- Perform inspections and ensures proper functioning of pool filtration system
- Oversees monthly reporting requirements per Department of Environmental Protection Agency
- Make minor repairs to deck equipment, including but not limited to; lounge chairs, umbrellas, and lane lines
- Inventory all equipment and chemicals. Report to supervisor ordering needs
- Schedules and plans water discharge tests, records and reports findings
- Works with outside contractors, vendors, and inspectors
- If assigned to the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center, will be required to perform operational tasks that include but are not limited to; set up, break down, and cleanup of special events
- Brush, vacuum and cleans pools, pool decks areas
- Performs related work as required
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in pool maintenance. Additional qualifying experience or completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a job-related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience or education.
- Must possess Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) OR Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification.
- American Red Cross CPR/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer certification.
- Work on weekends as scheduled during special events for the City and Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex
- SCUBA certification is preferred.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The position involves heavy physical demands, such as exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
