SUMMARY
The Telehealth Facilitator will provide direct support for students who are receiving Mental Health Telehealth Services. This will include maintaining and facilitating a schedule of students who receive support throughout the school day to include escorting students to and from the telehealth session, supervising students while they are participating in the telehealth session, ensuring students are accessing services in a confidential and safe environment, assisting with student log in/connection to the virtual session, and ensuring students are engaged in the session. All work is performed under the direction and supervision of the Director of Special Education and Student Services and school based administrators. This position will serve all schools in Nelson County Public Schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Maintains and facilitates a schedule of students who receive mental health telehealth services;
- Escorts students who are receiving mental health telehealth services to and from class;
- Ensure students are engaged in telehealth services in a confidential and safe setting;
- Assists students with logging into the telehealth platform and supporting students in navigating technical difficulties (if they arise);
- Frequently communicates with school-based administration and school counselors regarding student concerns and needs as they arise;
- Performs other duties as assigned by the School based Administrators and the Director of Special Education and Student Services.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
The Telehealth Facilitator performs duties under the supervision of the School-based Administrators and the Director of Special Education and Student Services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or more education. Possession of an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to develop and maintain an empathetic and supportive attitude toward students; ability to communicate and develop effective working relationships with students and staff; ability to maintain student confidentiality; ability to support students when they log into a telehealth platform; must be a high school graduate or hold equivalence of a high school diploma.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Duties performed typically in school settings to include: classroom, gym, cafeteria, auditorium and recreational areas. Frequent walking, standing, light lifting, up to 50 pounds, and other physical activities are required. Occasional travel with students on field trips may be necessary. Occasional movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required. Occasional attendance to parent conferences, building-level meetings and division wide meetings and training activities beyond normal assigned hours is necessary. Daily personal close contact with children to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required. Regular contact with other staff members, parents and medical professionals may be required. Contacts with community and division-level staff may require considerable tact and diplomacy. Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Job responsibilities include both inside and outside duties. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment. Must be able to work under stressful conditions. Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions. May be subject to physical and emotional outbursts by students, including such behaviors as hitting, kicking, spitting, scratching and biting. Dexterity of hands and fingers to assist/restrain students and to operate specialized equipment or office equipment. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to assist students. Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally. Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time in an office environment, see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without visual aids, hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone, speak clearly and in audible tones in person and on the telephone, and follow oral and written instructions
