A Day in the Life
This Engineering Technician II will play a key role in lab equipment setup, electronic assembly and execution and reporting.This position is an exciting opportunity to work with Medtronic's Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. This separation provides our team with a bold opportunity to unleash our potential, enabling us to operate with greater speed and agility. As a separate entity, we anticipate leveraging increased investments to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our impact on patient care.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned
Lab/Equipment setup
Assembly and configuration of new lab environment; rack installation
Following diagrams and instructions
Imaging PCs, driver and application installation, peripheral connection and configuration
Setting up, maintaining, and administering computer networks
Communication and collaboration with IT and developers
Managing access control and security
Coordinating use of equipment; on-boarding and training users
Lab system and device updates, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair
Developing and Documenting processes and techniques; looking for ways to streamline and automate routine activities
Electrical/electronic assembly
Prototyping
Top-level electrical and electromechanical system assembly
Bring-up and validation testing and documentation
Testing, Troubleshooting and repair
Soldering
Reading schematics
Execution and reporting
Programming devices and logging
Performing smoke or acceptance testing and notification
Support operation of tools and equipment
Collaboration with test teams
Required Knowledge and Experience:
Requires minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
Nice to have experience:
Ability to use hand and small power tools for mechanical and electrical assembly
Ability to follow instructions and diagrams, work independently, and communicate well with other team members.
Ability to perform characterization and design verification testing, set up lab equipment and execute electrical and functional tests, follow engineering test procedures, document and analyze test data.
Ability to create diagrams, document equipment configurations, generate test plans and reports.
Experience setting up and maintaining computing and testing environments, including software, hardware, and device configurations, per instructions.
Fundamental understanding of computers; experience with Windows & Mac operating systems and basic scripting.
Basic knowledge of network operation and equipment.
Knowledge of Android and iOS platforms and experience configuring and troubleshooting mobile devices and applications.
Experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving issues and replacing faulty components if needed.
Knowledge of basic electronic principles, components and their functions.
Ability to work from electronic schematics, engineering drawings (assembly, layout, and PCB artwork) and written or verbal instructions.
Experience setting up electronic circuit boards, devices, and systems; testing, troubleshooting, and performing repairs.
Good written and verbal communication skills; technical writing.
Experience using oscilloscopes, DMM, power supplies, and other test and measurement instruments.
Ability to balance a complex personal workload, communicate progress concerns in timely manner, provide alternative solutions.
Experience with digital and analog Printed Circuit Boards (PCBAs), microcontrollers, analog circuitry, linear and switching regulators and RF circuitry.
Experience in reworking and soldering high density surface mount components and assembly of prototype boards, using microscopes.
Experience in the design, source, fabricate, assembly, modification and completion of test fixtures and equipment.
Certification in related areas and skills
